i wonder if their is any reason behind the cities that have been picked for this scavenger hunt, probably not, but just really wondering what they might reveal next, i am hoping for the true meaning of this album, or even the next single

 

im thinking Lies Greed Misery or album stream on like spotify, facebook, or soundcloud or something

i like all of that, but whatever it is, it has to be good.

 

I've been thinking full album stream for quite awhile now. The way the band has been hyping up this scavenger hunt, and the amount of work they've put into it... There just doesn't seem like anything less appropriate. A single song would ALMOST seem underwhelming (but still incredible).

And with so many outlets listening to the completed album in full, there's really no reason (other than business matters obviously) for the band to hold the album in an impenetrable vault for another 6 weeks. Especially with how excited they seem about getting fan feedback towards the new music.

 

On top of the Share to win program and the Hunt, no matter what, I'm still going to be hyped for the end result.

 

Is a new track something BIG though? Like weigh that out with an album stream. I guess both could be big in their own way.

Exactly! While a new track would be awesome and certainly satisfy the fan base, this scavenger hunt has been hyped up far beyond a single song.

The only crack I have against this full album theory is the fact that LP is only playing 1-2 new songs in their European sets. Which leads me to think of another idea. The band releases Lies Greed Misery as a reward to the masses, but also digitally releases the full album ONLY to those that preordered on linkinpark.com

I wouldn't go as far to say that people that pre-ordered will get a digital version before release. In an email confirmation it says you will be able to download it on RELEASE DAY only. However, I am leaning towards a stream now and here is why.

1. It is something BIG
2. If the scavenger hunt finishes on May 25th 2012/that is the same day that 10,000 people that are on the leaderboards get a new song. Which basically means the scavenger hunt was pointless as one of those 10,000 people would put it on youtube.
3. Mike has been really pushing spotify lately.

I doubt we would have a scavenger hunt to get a song before release that we already know about.

 

The easiest way for the album to be leaked would be this kind of stream. It would be beyond simple to record your own computer sounds using a program like Audacity, then just split the tracks up and you have the album. I'm kinda leaning _against_ a stream.

 

That's kind of the idea though. Albums leak these days, that's a given, so you either do one of two things.

1. You pull a Kanye/Jay-Z and bribe everyone close to you not to leak your shit and hope for the best.

2. You have an "official leak." That way, YOU control when people get to hear it, through your own means. A lot of artists do this now-a-days. So I don't think an album stream would be that far-fetched.

If there would be a clue in Belgium or The Netherlands, I'm sure there will be enough people to get the clue within 2 minutes
So the next clue is in Rio... That leaves Africa and Europe and maybe Russia too. Exciting!

 

Has anyone pointed out yet that although our Brazilian friends have translated the first line of the clue to say:
"The next clue is within the port of Fort Copacabana"

Typing the sentence into google translate shows:
"The next track is within the port of Fort Copacabana"

Seems a bit of a coincidence for a mistranslation. But then again, it could be nothing...
