You joined here just to bash them and threaten to leave if the next album wasn't up to your standards.

Yeah, that's sure sticking by them, alright. Instead of trying to enjoy a single thing they put out, I'm willing to bet your mind just says it's shit because it's different, and not "Hybrid Theory". You haven't gotten over their style shift, thus creating a mental block preventing you from enjoying both M2M or ATS--- it's either that, or you were just in it for rap/rock, HT style. You're entitled to your opinion, of course, as I am entitled for mine, and my opinion is that I find this ridiculous.

Try revisit Minutes and A Thousand Suns, and chuck HT and Meteora out of the window as you do. Listen to it with fresh ears. Listen to it without comparing it to what came before.

Love how this track practically has screaming that would turn away most top 40 listeners, and is chaotic and yet this song is supposedly "pop" or the band making "what sells". Seriously, with all due respect, what the fuck are some of the fans in this thread smoking because I honestly want some. I want to know how a track that practically has the most screaming a Linkin Park song has had in nearly a decade is a pop song. God if anything you nu-metal kiddies should be rejoicing. You bitch for years that Chester isn't "hardcore1!1??!!!211" enough for you, then he turns up the intensity and you still bitch.

I can accept people not liking the song cause they just aren't a fan of the sound, but when the words "pop", "mainstream", or "dubstep" enter the equation with this song I have to laugh and shake my head.

Please listen to Meteora if you want an example of the band making music that is made to get more sales. The band has even admitted that Meteora suffered from label pressure to create another Hybrid Theory. Aka "making music that sells". This new direction, as strange as it may be at times, is why I'm still a fan after all these years. I *like* that I never know what to expect from them anymore. Sure I may not 100% like every song they put out, but I appreciate the way they've challenged me to evolve my musical tastes over the years and the new genres/artists they've helped turn me on to through what they introduce to their music. I just wish some of you on here could evolve too. I'm not forcing you to like LGM (cause honestly its not even in my top 5 LP songs personally), but if your only argument is that they don't sound like the way they used to, then that's a pretty damn weak argument.

Basically what I want to say to every person that listens to their new stuff and goes "Man they've done a lot better in the past"

Makes me want to rage :FUUUUUU:

    Well said Derek. Bravo. :chuck:

No seriously, this is the truth. I had a hard time accepting A Thousand Suns actually, I didn't know what to think of it at first. When The Catalyst came out, I was really thinking 'what is this shit?'. But I sat down, and listened to it for days until I found something I liked. And well, the more I listened to it, the more I liked it.

Now, ATS is my favorite LP album, go figure. They really pushed me in a way to evolve with them. And because of that, my music taste evolved too. I'm not that guy anymore who just listens to rock and hip-hop. I now listen to Industrial, Electronic, ambient, experimental and a bunch of other crazy stuff. And that's why I still love LP, they helped me evolve along with them.

You don't have to like every song they put out but at least have respect for what they're doing.

I think that the "Nu-metal" lovers don't know what they want. It's that group of "fans" that is always complaining about how the new songs sound.

For me, Linkin Park is like a road untraveled (get it? :WTF:). Like Derek said so well, you never know what to expect from them and that's why it's so freakin awesome to hear a new LP song every single time.

@wut/has/happen/2/lp: I really don't know what you're doing on a LP fansite. If you don't like the new LP, why are you wasting your time here?

Yeah, and, then, it turns out that the WAV file is a rip of a 128kbps MP3 or something ;P

I'd like to wish you well
    But you just cannot spell
    My opinion of you fell
And now I'm like, "No way"

You know I really do wish
    Meteora fans weren't like this
    But your word is dismissed
I could rebuke you all day

Your word's invalid, "more raps, fuck the ballads"
The band has you feelin' abandoned
Are you still denying change daily?

    Hey, I just met you
    And this is crazy
    Nu-metal's over
    So grow up maybe

    It's hard for you, right?
    Little baby
    Expand your worldview
    And you'll learn, maybe

    Nu-metal is all dead
    I know it's crazy
    Your wish for "old skool"
    Is quite vocal lately

    You ask for substance
    Which is crazy
    'cause you like Meteora
    Hypocrite, maybe?

    You're fine with HT 2
You only want metal that's nu
    Change is hard for you
But still you complain all day

    You say you personally relate
To LP songs from that date
That's because the lyrics were vague
But still you feel that way

Boring powerchords, bland lyrics, structure's boring
    Corporate success story
    You still think Meteora's crazy?

    Hey, I just met you
    And this is crazy
    You say you want change
    But want HT3

    It's hard for you, right?
    Little baby
    This experimental
    Phase of LP

    You want the vagueness
    Lyrics are lazy
    I heal feel real now
    THOSE LYRICS ARE CRAZY

    You think MTM is bland
    And corporate playing
But it was a new sound for THEM
    That's all I'm saying

    When they were rap/rock
    You were so glad
    You were so glad
You were so so so glad

    Now they want to explore
    And you are so mad
    You are so mad
You are so so so mad

    "it didn't matterwut
    they put out"
    But you're still complaining
    So what's that about?

"they seem to be more concerned
    about what will sell
    as opposed to what's different"
    WHAT THE HELL?!

    Changing doesn't sell
    Just believe me
    Just look at Gold Cobra
    AND YOU WANT HT3

You say you want cutting edge
But say ATS is so bad
    You say it's so bad
You say it's so so so bad

    Your arguments are shite
    They are so bad
    And you should know that

    So grow up maybe

I played it for the boys at the office, first thing they said was "Katy Perry". First thing that came to mind when they said that was "Katy Perry - E.T. (Futuristic Lover)" sure it's 2 different artist but the similarity is definitely there between those 2 tracks. I can see where people would say it's pop / mainstream. I personally don't think Burn It Down shares that same atmosphere but this song for sure.

As for Chester and his screaming? It's "meh", it's like the screaming finally happened just not to the melody many were hoping for? But that's just my 2 cents. Call me crazy but I think I would've been happy if it was Mike did this track by himself. Compared to ATS, as someone pointed in the BBC thread, I think we were spoiled.

Finally, lossless didn't make it any justice as I had predicted. It just sounds like background music you'd hear on the radio, it doesn't stand out or stick out for much of the matter, then again it is just a short song.

Still hoping for the rest of the album to pull through. :sweating:

In that span of the last 25 seconds or so, Chester screams more than in any other Linkin Park material for that same amount of time, and the song goes into crazy berserk heavy land. And some people have the nerve to call it "pop"...
