Well I'm thinking about buying one. But I don't know if it's worth getting the new one or if I should just buy iPad2... (And don't start with other Tabs.. If I'm buying one - it's iPad...)
Ok, get the new one, its well worth it! And depending on how much music you have, unless you have a ton, get the 32GB one, you won't need 64, games, apps, photos and other stuffs are tiny!
I have the iPad 2, love it. If you want the latest and greatest get the new iPad. I mean the only differences between them are Retina Display Better internals - improved CPU, more RAM (which means less refreshing for Safari pages) The new iPad is slightly thicker than the iPad 2 and heavier. So basically, can you afford the new iPad, and if you can, do you think that money is worth those extra features? That's what it comes down to really.
It's a marketing thing tbh. It's a high screen resolution that is meant to have so many ppi that your eye can't make out individual pixels. New iPad - 2048-by-1536-pixel resolution at 264 pixels per inch iPad 2 - 1024-by-768-pixel resolution at 132 pixels per inch
Got an iPad 2 and it's really worth the money. Of course, I use mine for working purposes but it's still great to use for music, movies, games and so forth. I didn't bother with an iPad 3. Usually when I bought an iPhone which was one generation below the most recent iPhone, I felt that I needed the new one but for iPad, I'm very happy with my second gen.
Don't bother with the original iPad. Apple does not provide software updates (like the upcoming iOS 6) for it anymore.
I hardly use my iPad 2 or my "new" iPad My iPhone and the Mountain Lion developer preview are all I really use Apple wise. I'll use it occasionally to play games, school stuff, etc.
That's what I don't like about Apple. Now Liz is going to buy iPad2, and, after a few years, Apple will release iPad3 and will not provide updates for the 2. That's what happened with iPhone.
I love my iPad 3. It is one of my favorite recent purchases. I am normally somewhat skeptical to spend large amounts of money, but, I have not even looked back a little after the purchase of my iPad 3. I bought all the bells and whistles and nearly spent $1,000 on it, which is a bit much, but, I loved the iPad 1 I had so much that I sold it and got the 3. The retina display is amazing, it has almost entirely replaced my core i7 laptop that I had for years because of its portability, speed, and the fact that it just is a better experience than my laptop. The only reason I use my laptop anymore is to spend the night at a friends' house and play Diablo III. I plan to use my iPad a lot in college. The retina display is amazing. You have to see it to believe it, really. It's much more visually distinctive than the iPad 2's screen resolution which is rated at 1024x768. I notice the sharpness difference in the screens greatly. It's huge. The camera on the iPad 3 is also MUCH better than the iPad 2's camera. It actually takes some pretty awesome shots and great video, whereas the iPad 2's camera is pretty grainy and low quality.
