I noticed this in the first week I heard LT:

    Lost In The Echo
    In My Remains
    Burn It Down
    I'll Be Gone
    Until It Breaks
(Skin To Bone) not sure about that one

What does all these tracks have in common?
Yes, obvioulsy they are on the same record, but they are also all writen in the key of a-minor.
This might be one of the reasons a few of these sound alike.

Personally I don't like this fact. 5(6) out of 12 songs in the same key is really boring.

At last I want to say that I really don't hate this album! (To keep all the haters away)
I think, it is a great one, but this really bugs me.

Did anyone else notice this before?

That'd be fine if it was a concept album (kind of)! But instead they are just lazy.

Burn it Down is in D minor, not A minor.

However, Lies Greed Misery is also in A minor, which you didn't list, so the total comes out to the same number of songs. Skin to Bone is in A minor, just to clarify since you weren't sure. If you want to get technical, Until it Breaks is in A minor for most of the song, but it switches to A major for Brad's part at the end.

I don't really mind it much, common keys aren't an issue to me unless the songs themselves sound similar/use similar chord progressions. A great example of that would be Figure.09/Faint/From the Inside, which are all in C# minor and all use very slight variations on the same chord progression...they even all start with the letter F! CONSPIRACY!

Well, didn't notice the Meteora thing - nice find!
I am absolutly sure, BID is in the key of A-Minor though.
I am able to play it on the piano.

Don't argue with the guitar God of LP songs.

On that note, the songs are different enough that it doesn't matter. LT gets a pass. Meteora, however, does not. Fuck that shit.

I have perfect pitch. It IS in D Minor.

I hate A Minor. It's such a depressing key. I like anything major and minor in the key of C to F. Everything else is meh... I like B minor too actually.

D Dorian and A Minor have the same key signature, so you're right either way.

We're all right, in a sense (I'll concede that D minor isn't the right key, I went back and checked). The root note of Burn it Down is clearly D, and the chord that goes with it happens to be a D minor. However, if it were in D minor, it would use a Bb note instead of a B, which isn't the case (there's a B note in the bassline during the choruses, and the G chords are all major, so they also include a B). The key signature would be written as A minor, but with the root being on D, it's probably most accurate to say it's in D Dorian (the scale being D-E-F-G-A-B-C, essentially a C major scale starting on the second note).

    D-Dorian it is.
I knew the first chord is a D though, but I didn't notice the B in the Chrous, which made it sound like a straight A-Minor with a D at the start.

Still, my intention of the post is the same:

    Lost In The Echo
    In My Remains
    Burn It Down (A-Minor/D-Dorian)
    Lies Greed Misery
    I'll Be Gone
    Skin To Bone
Until It Breaks (Even if only half the way through)

Are in the key of A-Minor, which buggs me a little.
Cuz if we are correctly, Tinfoil/Powerless belong together, which makes the record having only 11 songs with 6(7) beeing in the same key.
I like them all, so it isn't that bad, but I'd prefer some variations to be honest.

I must say, I do love the key change from Until it breaks into Tinfoil. Sounded almost seamless.

I do think the same! (:)
    Tinfoil/Powerless is F-Minor, I suppose.

Someone should correct me, if I am mistaken.

Starts on an A major chord, but uses a repeating A-F#-G chord progression for most of the song, which is more consistent with a minor key. There are a few other LP songs like that too, Crawling and Somewhere I Belong are a couple I can think of.

Powerless is indeed in the F-minor range. You are correct.

If you're a musician it kinda should, because when you play the songs and realize there's zero effort in chord progression diversity, you get bummed out and start noticing the similar melodies that underlay specific songs.
I like COG mostly because it stands out of the bunch, not because Mike's singing is beautiful (which it is) or because the sounds are something new (which they are).

    A flat minor.

Hell, I'll just list all of the keys for the album, we've covered most of them in this thread anyway:

Lost in the Echo: A minor
    In My Remains: A minor
Burn it Down: A minor (with a D Dorian tonality, since the "root" chord is D minor)
Lies Greed Misery: A minor (uses a lot of A major intervals, but the chord progression indicates it's actually in a minor key)
    I'll Be Gone: A minor
    Castle of Glass: C# minor
    Victimized: D minor
    Roads Untraveled: Ab minor
    Skin to Bone: A minor
Until it Breaks: A minor (most of the song)/A major (Brad's part)
    Tinfoil: F minor
    Powerless: F minor

Are we sure Until it Breaks switches from A minor to A major, and not A minor to C major, A minor's relative?
