I'd have to say that both of these songs are very similar (following the same structure and sound of What I've Done) and it should be easy to say that one of them will most likely be a single (I'd be surprised if it were to actually be both). I'm just curious to see what you guys think is the better track and maybe say why if you please. My vote goes to I'll Be Gone. The song has some of Chester's best vocals featured on LIVING THINGS. The lyrics are also very solid, I can understand that he is talking about a severing relationship. What I don't like about In My Remains' lyrics is the fact that it sounds too "Meteora" like with the exception of "Like an army falling" part. IBG might not be featured on tour, but I'd imagine that the subtle hand claps, synths and owen's strings would be heard a lot better just like the synths on IMR live.
I'm one of those guys that thinks that both songs are almost equally as good as each other. IN MY REMAINS just has a better and more prominent chorus whilst in I'LL BE GONE, his singing just sounds nicer. Example being the way he sings "glistening" and "bittersweet".
IMR: One of the best in the album IBG: One of the worst on the album(Just because of the shitty mixing.) The lyics is good in both songs, but IMR's got the "Like an army" part. So In My Remains all the way!
In My Remains destroys I'll Be Gone IMO. That chorus is just SO damn explosive and the bridge is perfect. Whereas I'll Be Gone just feels safer to me, and more poorly mixed. That said if In My Remains synths were mixed the same as they are when played live then the song would be legendary to me.
Definitely In My Remains. My favourite song on LT. I´ll Be gone is ok but it sounds very monotone IMO
IMR. I wish its synths were louder during the chorus though (as it's mixed live) , but anyway, I love the song melody and the energy of it.
They are both really good. I really like In My Remain's verses. But I really like listening to the lines''This air between us is getting thinner now'' and ''Across that horizon this sun is setting down''...So I cannot decide.
Overall, In My Remains. But to fair, I really like Chester's voice during the verses in I'll Be Gone. His voice during the lyrics "fear and pain" in In My Remains make me cringe because of how whiney he sounded. Plus, it made me think of Meteora. Remember how many times they used the word "pain" in that album?
