Hey LP community! So, in many interviews, the band has stated that UNTIL IT BREAKS was almost a compilation of 4 separate demos that had been copied and pasted next to each other. I was just wondering what everyones thoughts were on if LP had decided to make each of those 4 demos into completed tracks. Which would be the best? Would having 4 tracks instead of 1 have made LIVINGS THINGS a better or worse album? I am just curious. Personally, I think the "rising sun" demo would've been an epic track.
I mostly like "Breaks" the way that it is. Can't help but speculate about how the rap verse sections would sound if they were bookended with aggressive choruses, though
I love the song as is but I can't say i would've liked it more or less separated, obviously because I haven't heard it.
Maybe we get it on LPU12. Anyway, I'd totally love if they mixed the beat from 99 Problems with the beat of WFTE and then added the rapping from UIB. Would've been epic. Just like they performed on the tour. Collision Course II.
It sounds like a good suggestion, but here's my take on it. I don't know where else the rapping would go on a full song or with what kind of chorus would be attatched to it. It is reminiscent of "I have not begun..." a fucking cool track, but the chorus isn't really there... As far as Chester's "Rising sun" part I could see being used only as a bridge. As cool as the melody is, I cannot see it placed as a verse or in a chorus. Brad's part at the end could have possibly been worked into a full song. I could see it worked into a Jack Johnson style. Of course, more lyrics, probably sung by Chester, would have to be written to iron it out. I love the "ADD/WTF!?" factor of the song the way it is though.
I imagine the ''Give me the strength of the rising sun'' demo would have been a folky sounding song, that would have been awesome to hear. I actually just read a LP interview talking about how COG, RU and STB all started out as acoustic folk songs, I would LOVE to hear those without all the electronic and LP elements. So yeah I'd like to hear that one. I also like the rap that Mike does over WFTE live, that would be a cool demo if completed. The Brad demo would have also sounded cool, but I'm not sure if I'd want a whole demo with just Brad singing. The other 2 rap verses I couldn't care less about though.
Right here is an error in assumption. Even if they had gone the route of making four tracks off of Until It Breaks, that's no guarantee all four tracks would have made it on the album. Two, most likely three, would have been cut. Or maybe even all four in favor of something else that worked... Like, for example, Until It Breaks.
It could work as a folk number a la "Roads Untraveled" where it's the same section being repeated three or four times with different lyrics :*
The same thing happened on Skin To Bone... I don't know. I think the melody would lose it's "pow" hearing it over and over.
Until It Breaks is perfect the way it is and is my second-favorite Linkin Park song. As cool as having four separate songs would be, they just sound so awesome mashed together the way they are.
lol i love this song, but the live mashup with waiting for the end its f****** epic lol .-. So, check it out guys what i've done with it: http://youtu.be/JSBwEalxUCY
