Now that we've all listened to Living Things and let the hype die down, do you think it's better than A Thousand Suns? For about a month I thought LT was superior, but now I honestly feel like ATS has much more lasting appeal, and I can say I still really love that album
I've found a much more lasting appeal in A Thousand Suns, yes. The week after Living Things came out, I thought I might call it LP's best, but I stopped feeling that way. That said, this is a discussion that has been done to death.
Living Things already kinda got old but I still think it's better. I think LP in general is a bit old for me now
This time, people aren't motivated by just-released hype. I knew the LT love would die down after release. ATS is a much stronger album.
This. ATS has not only stayed good but maybe even gotten better with time. ATS is an experience, not just an album. LT is good but its just not as special.
I'm going with Living Things.. ATS is very strong and lots of new materiel is there but LT has more variety in types of songs.. and I feel it's more energy packed than ATS ...
LT has some excellent songs, some of the best the band has written, but as an album, it feels lacking ATS is not just a collection of fantastic songs, it is an album, and that is how it is meant to be listened. I find LT to be a bit 'fake'. It just doesn't feel as though LP were pushing far enough into the unknown. But from a commercial stand point, it brought back some older fans who were put off buy the changes album 3 & 4 brought. Commercially, LT is more accessible and it has its moments, but in terms of the quality of work, ATS is superior as a whole. At least to me.
I don't think Living Things is even in my top 3 LP albums. A Thousand Suns is easily better. There's no contest.
THIS 999999% times. I like LT more, but ATS is just better. LT is a good album. It has it's good and bad songs, but ATS is just perfect.
ATS is so much better than LT. LT got old really quickly. The only song I listen to off it now is Castle of Glass.
It's not to say LT isn't a good album but ATS to me is this decade's dark side of the moon. When we look back I think LT will be one that gets passed over or forgotten a lot.
The first five songs on LT are boring (except LGM (yes, I think it's super-awesome)), and later it's perfect. But ATS is way better. LT is my fourth favorite LP album.
I never really liked A Thousand Suns much. It's a great cd, but it's not one that I can find myself repeating everyday, and even then I only like a selection of songs. BUT, Living Things gets old just as fast for me. Castle of Glass, Until It Breaks, I'll be Gone and In My Remains are the only tracks I really care to listen too. In this case though, I would definitely pick ATS as the better album.
