I know LPU12 just came out and probably most of you have not heard it yet, but I'm starting this thread now anyways. I personally just would have made an 17-18 song album but if you were to recreate MTM having only 13 (or 14) tracks like the actual album does, what would it look like for you? Mine: 1. Pale 2. Asbestos 3. Given Up 4. Leave Out All the Rest 5. Bleed it Out 6. Across the Line 7. What I've Done 8. Valentine's Day 9. QWERTY 10. In Pieces 11. Debris 12. In Between 13. Blackbirds 14. What We Don't Know 15. The Little Things Give You Away In reality though I wish It was that 15 with SOTD kept, plus Not Alone.
1. Wake 2. Given Up 3. Asbestos 4. Debris 5. No Roads Left 6. QWERTY 7. Valentine's Day 8. What I've Done 9. Bleed It Out 10. Leave Out all the Rest 11. Across the Line 12. Blackbirds 13. In Pieces 14. The Little Things Give You Away Well this is the original. Heavy: 1. Given Up 2. No More Sorrow 3. QWERTY 4. Across the Line 5. Bleed It Out 6. What I've Done (don't really think it's called heavy, but aight.) 7. No Roads Left (same as What I've Done.) The un-heavy. 1. Leave Out all the Rest 2. Shadow of the Day 3. Blackbirds 4. Debris 5. Asbestos 6. In Between 7. Hands Held High 8. Valentine's Day 9. In Pieces 10. The Little Things Give You Away In total, they should've put Debris on MTM.
Here's mine: 1. Pale 2. Given Up 3. Asbestos 4. Leave Out All The Rest 5. Bleed It Out 6. Shadow of the Day 7. What I've Done 8. Across The Line 9. Debris 10. Valentine's Day 11. What We Don't Know 12. In Pieces 13. Blackbirds 14. No Roads Left 15. In Between 16. Hands Held High 17. The Little Things Give You Away
01. Ambo Intro 02. What I've Done 03. Leave Out All The Rest 04. What We Don't Know 05. In Pieces 06. Shadow of the Day 07. Debris 08. No Roads Left 09. Blackbirds 10. Valentine's Day 11. --piano interlude-- 12. The Little Things Give You Away
01 No More Sorrow (long intro) 02 Given Up 03 Leave Out All The Rest 04 Bleed It Out 05 What I've Done 06 Qwerty 07 Valentine's Day 08 Blackbirds 09 In Pieces
Well it was a Minutes To Midnight demo. They just rewrote all of the lyrics post-MTM. So...you're right, I don't know if it would count. The finished product came after MTM.
Blackbirds Given Up Leave Out All The Rest Bleed It Out What We Don't Know Shadow Of The Day Hands Held High No More Sorrow Valentine's Day In Between In Pieces No Roads Left The Little Things Give You Away there's my rough list. I don't think any of the LPU 12 demos would have any place on MTM as they are. MTM has the right amount of slickness and polish on it, while these demos are just half baked sketches (which is why they're demos).
MTM is a perfect work of art, but they should have had Across The Line, What We Don't Know and Blackbirds on the album somewhere. Every single b-side/demo/seed from this album I am in love with, so it really should have just had 150 tracks on it. Haha. Best LP album hands down.
Does really matter anyways considering we're getting them through the Lpu. I guess it would means the songs would've been a little different or more polished. Doesn't really make a difference to me.
going outside the ruleset for: MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT: ELAINE'S EDITION. ______________________ 1.) Pale A more touched up, less demo-ey sounding recording, fully mastered. 2.) Given Up The song we all know and love/hate. 3.) Asbestos A finished version, with a chorus, and explosive outro, building into-- 4.) Blackbirds A mellow transition into Blackbirds, doing away with the dulled/muted intro we have currently. 5.) What We Don't Know A finished rendition, with touched up lyrics, and a more 'punchy' instrumental piece. 6.) What I've Done The one and the same, though with the bridge from "Bang Three" after the bridge we have, building into the final chorus. 7.) Pretend To Be I was debating putting this on the list or not as it's technically post-MTM release, but I feel it'd have been incomplete without it here. 8.) Not Alone A slightly more melow version. 8.) Wake Yes. Wake. Only, this time, a more interludey rendition, rather than an intro piece. Building into an explosive climax, which transitions into; 9.) Bleed It Out No changes. 9.) QWERTY A less grungy version, to fit more in with Minutes To Midnight's style, whilst retaining the kind of 'punch' we get from the guitars. 10.) Shadow Of The Day No changes. 11.) Bunker Finished, with an intense rap. However, the synth sort of begins to change near the end of the song as a transitional piece, evolving into; 12.) Across The Line No changes. 13.) Leave Out All The Rest No changes. 14.) No More Sorrow No changes. 15.) Hands Held High No changes. 16.) Valentine's Day No changes. 17.) In Between No changes. 18.) Clarity A finished version, with a different intro that better flows from the end of In Between. An Interlude track. 19.) In Pieces The song we all know and love. 20.) Homecoming A finished version, with vocals. 21.) Debris A more punchy version, with the strings more intense than before, an anthem track. 22.) The Little Things Give You Away The closer of the album. 23.) No Roads Left An epilogue track. Maybe slightly changed around to be more along the lines of this album's "The Messenger".
01. Wake 02. Asbestos 03. What We Don't Know 04. Asbestos 05. Asbestos 06. Asbestos 07. Pretend to Be 08. Asbestos 09. Asbestos 10. Asbestos 11. Across the Line 12. Asbestos
MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT [CONCEPT ALBUM IDEA] 1. Wake 2. Given Up [would be epic to have rap parts from Asbestos] 3. Pale [1minute interlude transitioning to] 4. Leave Out All The Rest 5. QWERTY 6. Debris [Short piano outro..] 7. Hands Held High 8. What I've Done 9. No More Sorrow 10. Across The Line 11. YO [interlude] 12. Bleed It Out 13. Drum Song
I dunno, I just think for a special edition they should put all the finished b-sides on an extra disc. Swapping and moving songs about is something only LP should feel they should do, so keep it simple and make a double album
1. Homecoming (Studio Quality but still instrumental) 2.Given Up 3. QWERTY 4. No Roads Left 5. Leave Out All The Rest 6. Blackbirds 7. What I've Done 8. Valentines Day 9. Asbestos 10. In Pieces 11. Debris 12. Clarity (Interlude) 13. Bleed It Out
