Not necessarily a new artist, but I recently got into the hip hop duo known as Blue Scholars. They're from Seattle and frequently collaborate with Macklemore. They released an album last year (2011) called Cinemetropolis. www.bluescholars.com Lumiere (Rap over The xx's Intro) Seijun Suzuki (From Cinemetropolis) North By Northwest (From Bayani Redux)
Well, my favourite original tune by him has always been "With You". It was my first taste of chill dubstep. The four-track EP which accompanied its release as a single is pretty solid. I came across XXYYXX's work on Hype Machine a couple of months back - I think I first heard "Northern Lights", which samples a Weeknd track - and I downloaded his self-titled release. I think "DMT" is amazing but, other than that, I don't have any favourites.
A follow up on the band I posted about before. High Highs has made their debut album available for streaming. You can play it here: http://www.vmusic.com.au/pages/main-menu/news/features/high-highs-album-premiere
Wow, this sounds awesome! Who would've thought, The XX and rap. My latest discovery would be Nosaj Thing. Glitchy experimental hip-hop-esque electronic music (with a hint of ambient). I like it! EDIT: Add Oliver to the list. He's an artist who draws influences from various French-House artists like Daft Punk and Justice He has just released a new EP called "Mechanical".
Hacktivist. If LP were British, and did djent/rap, they'd sound like this.
Came across a remix of a Sky Ferreira track on The Hype Machine a few days ago and I decided to check out her original songs. Her earlier material is mediocre; her more recent material is stellar. Her 2012 EP "Ghost" is a precursor to a forthcoming full-length album, currently titled "I'm Not Alright", that I now have high hopes for
Based off of what the Holy Shinoda said he was listening to in this interview, I decided to look into listening to Homeboy Sandman. So fucking awesome, he came out with an album last year called First of a Living Breed. Here are a few singles from the album. I recently came across new music from a friend of mine, well more like a person I know of, but I actually found his music really good and soon enough, I think he will be an amazing artist someday. https://soundcloud.com/byram-music/whirlwind
The Mother We Share - CHVRCHES I love the sound. It's big and electronic, not unlike Passion Pit, Naked and Famous, or Ellie Goulding. https://soundcloud.com/chvrches
I think these guys are pretty good, Emperors. They're a band in Australia with a great 90's rock vibe to their music. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCC9thDM53o
Recently I discovered the hip hop duo known as Dark Time Sunshine through a post Aesop Rock made on his FB page. These guys are fucking awesome, and had I known about the album they put out last year (ANX) when I was making my top ten of 2012 post, I would have definitely included them. Valiant (Feat.
