I love most of Meteora, feels like the album the guys snuck in once the Nu-Metal genre went into palliative care. I can't hate the album that gave me Somewhere I Belong, Faint, Breaking the Habit and Numb.
I don't care for the album like I used to, but it holds a ton of sentimental value for me. I bought it the day it came out on my way back to Mole Lake, WI from my honeymoon in Watersmeet, MI. I got married the day before, which also happened to be my 23rd birthday.
Ahh someone else who has experienced the yooper culture! A Honeymoon in the U.P. hey? Must have gone during the summer. It's awesome here during the summer. But I digress... Meteora feels like it came out last year to me. I just remember the in almost every detail. Wowza. Ten years actually goes by fast!!!
I remember that when I was a young kid, I thought Meteora was their first album, and "Numb" was their first single. I never knew of Hybrid Theory's existence until after I started researching about A Thousand Suns which was, like, three years ago.
Although I'd love to, work these days has left me unable to attend any of this weekend's events. But I do plan on locking myself in my room and playing the album in its entirety at some point on Monday (the ten-year anniversary in the States). I also plan on uploading my ode to Meteora on YouTube that day.
I remember waiting outside Best Buy at 5 in the morning for the store to open up so i could be the first one to buy it than went home locked myself in my room and blasted it so loud that someone called the cops to tell me to lower it.
Preparing myself to face the haters army Nah, I will probably not be there anyway , have to work. I hope it will turn out well, which it should! And yes, as someone said, I hope the podcast will also embrace the good sides of Meteora, which obviously exists, and not only the bad sides. Something representative of the opinion of the whole community would be nice
Meteora was the 1st album my dad gifted to me so it brings back a lot of memories. It would be the only CD I'd play except for Hybrid Theory. Also I wrote an essay for my Spanish class about Meteora's success and got an A+. I regret throwing it away before we moved to our new apartment.
Will any of the old-timers be in attendance for the listening party? Also, where is it? It'd be nice to catch up. I haven't listened to Meteora in years.
Yeah I've been there quite a few times, but mostly Iron River where she had family and we'd attend the fair/demo derby every year.
I'm not an old-timer on these forums, but I can assure you that I am an old-timer fan who would love to share some insight. I love the U.P.
This sounds great! Really glad you guys are doing something for it. Can you believe its also 10 years for me listening to this band? crazy. I'll definitely do my best to be there for some of it. Just in case will LPA be saving/uploading the pod-cast later? Just in case I miss it?
Yeah, it'll definitely be available as a download after it airs. Hope you can make it to some of them!
