I'd have no problem with Chester being the new vocalist for STP, god knows he's a fuck load better than Scott Weiland. As long as it doesn't get in the way of Linkin Park, or they feel the need to come on stage during a Linkin Park set and perform all their worst songs, then I don't see it being an issue. I feel like this is what DBS should have sounded like, more rock n roll and grungey. I'd like it if and when DBS make a new record that it be more along the lines of this type of material. Certainly an unexpected and pleasant surprise.
I didn't mean like... radio pop-rock, I meant like.. what you said, this vocal style. I reallly like it. I think LP will go either full out Rock, or weird and electronic... or something else. It won't be like LT. I hope.
Not ''rock-bonkers''. Anyway, the vocal here sounds way too ''scratchy'' or something for me. I don't even know how to describe it. But I like the track. Plus, LP's definition of ''bonkers'' was Living Things.
Yes, that's it, scratchy - raspy - whatever. But that's what I love about it Anyway, waiting for the full show on youtube. Dead An Bloaded sounded badass with Chester, I need more!
Sorry, my bad. Chester said ATS was bonkers, not LT. Bad memory. Yeahhhh... I don't really like that. Not here, not with DBS.
I have never had an in depth listen to Stone Temple Pilots. Now would be a great time though. I like the preview although I would have liked to have heard a bit more growl to the "Time" during the final "In and out of time". I don't want to speculate or make a comment about the situation until more information comes to light, however, I will say that this is very sudden and very interesting.
Who are these guys? The vocals are all Chester. I expected him to have just one vocal section in another band's song
I'm happy that stuff like this can still come out of the blue and surprise us like this. The track sounds good, but I expected a little more after reading about this. I'd prefer more Dead By Sunrise. Out Of Ashes is still awesome.
Chester can totally be the singer for both bands, no problem. LP doesn't tour extensively anymore and neither does STP so he definitely has the time. Corey Taylor fronts two big bands.
So, after reading 4 pages here about how Chester's way of singing this song, it blows my mind that no one has made a comment about how the way the song is sung is very Weiland-esque. It sounds like Chester was borrowing Scott's style for the song. I'm going to be completely honest here when I say that I'm not a huge fan of Weiland's way of singing and writing vocals.
Chester idolises Scott Weiland, from what I've read, and is therefore probably not eager to push Pilots in a new direction.
Everything leans towards Chester replacing Scott. The promo photos, the filling in live, the recording a song with them...that's a lot of work for a guest vocalist on ONE song. The only way it could work on an STP album with Chester doing one album, is if they did a record where there are multiple different vocalists. If it was just STP Featuring Chester...wouldn't Weiland and him be trading vocals on the track? Alice In Chains' new vocalist didn't re-invent the wheel either and Black Gives Way To Blue was one of the best rock albums of recent memory. There's nothing wrong with keeping the same direction.
