American Idol Bans Linkin Park

    In what could be the most bizarre news story about Linkin Park in past memory, American Idol, Fox's hit talent search show, has banned Linkin Park songs from being sung at auditions for the show. Launch.com recently received information that American Idol executives have specifically banned Linkin Park lyrics along with Korn, R. Kelly, Mariah Carey, No Doubt, Bruce Springsteen, and many others. A memo released by American Idol says that most "alternative rock bands" are discouraged from being performed at the auditions in various cities across the United States. Linkin Park haven't commented on the matter yet.

    very odd.
    Linkin park vocals have more talent then any other crap teen bop pop music star.

    Yeah, I was going to add something else but I didn't want to double post, so now I can.

    I'm happy they banned the songs. Linkin Park are way too good for a pop-competition. They don't even belong there. It would only make them look bad on Fox, espeically if some loser was singing the lyrics. Go Fox! Thanks! :lol:

    lol just gives me another reason not to watch the show, and convinces me that 99% of tv has gone down the crapper.

    its because if they pick any of those bands to sing, then they obviously like that style, and if they won, they would make music like that, which woudnt be popular, so they woudnt allow it

    i was litterally thinking about going to an audition next year and I was going to sing Numb. That sucks!

    they might as well call it the "we want you to sound the same as everyone else" contest, because season after season, everyone sounds the same....it's sickening....

    oh what crap (sorry, don't mind), really! anyways, i wouldn't want anyone singing LP songs on that show cuz' that show is for the pop crap (sorry again, don't mind). Rock is way too good for American Idol...

    Thats hilarious. Its their choice, but I think theyre afraid of finding someone that can scream as well as Chester or something. They should call it "Popstar Idol", because thats the only kind of genre theyre looking for. Pft

    Here's my opinion(s):

    1. I don't care about the show, and don't watch it or its clones (Canadian Idol, World Idol...)

    2. Just goes to show that they won't let any rock bands on, they want to keep the music to fit the audience, pop and only pop. What diversity there is in a nation-wide contest, eh?

    3. I wish someone would go on that show, do something from early Metallica, Slayer, or Pantera and have the crowd moshing to it :lol:

    i can see where they're going with this...they still want to keep the bubblegum pop around so they don't let anything such as lp to get into the audition room cuz they don't want to hear it. if you really think about it this is probably going to be their last season because there are so many people out there who can think that they're the best singer in the world, when really they aren't.

    as posted so many times before...it's too commerical <_<

    i havent seen AI, but many of my friends watch, i just dont like reality tv, but some times i make a rare exception like Punkd', but the fact they band LP songs, well i dont care, its for the better that they dont disgrace LP by singing one of their songs

    Good. LP songs don't belong on a show searching for the next pop clone. The judges probably think Chester's screaming will deafen him forever. It'd be funny though. Imagine someone trying to sing Korn's "Y'all Want A Single" on the show. :lol:

    I would use a banned word to describe this, but y'all know what I think.

    I hate those shows. Money-making scams, and they flush the talented persons for the good-looking ones. All show no go... Sincerly, I can't stand this commercial ####.
