Chester Bennington of Linkin Park/Stone Temple Pilots and Richard Patrick of Filter, recently sat down with entertainment news magazine "The Hollywood Reporter" to do an interview during the currently running Stone Temple Pilots tour. The interview, which focuses on both artist's careers is a good read and expands further on Chester's feelings about joining Stone Temple Pilots, as well as his thoughts on Linkin Park's upcoming music. So seeing as he mentioned trendy EDM song right before this, is it safe to assume that when Chaztah says "new single" he's talking about an a completely different song?
I don't care if it's heavy or soft, if Mike is listening to some guitar driven music, there is hope... I like electronic music as well, it's just I enjoy the sound of a guitar more.
I actually think he meant ALTNC but just worded it wrong. Cause the song is being promoted as their "new single". Of course I never know whether or not you're serious or you're joking so
I'm not even going to get excited about the next LP record being heavy. I've wanted some heavy LP music for YEARS now, but I know that if I get really excited, it probably won't happen. This is great news though. Also, I'm almost positive that Richard Patrick was talking about me and my friend from when we met him in Boston, because we both have plugs and both wore flannel, and the conversation was exactly how he worded it. Badass.
Haha I think he only remembered us because there was literally NO ONE in line or around the venue at the time we got there, and he walked off the bus and we went up to him. Haha.
If you guys want to know more about Mike's listening to punk and metal music lately, you should definitely check out his spotify playlist "Sorting Through". The most recent albums there indeed belong to those genres. And they're good, very good
I knew it was going to be rock or metal and until the album comes out you can't convince me otherwise.
Very unlikely if you ask me. And anyway, it's waaaaay too soon to tell, they're probably not even far in the process of writing this new record
Did you completely miss the part of the interview where Chester said that they don't want to be just one genre? If you're expecting the album to be straight up punk or rock I'm afraid you're going to be really disappointed.
So before we know it, LP might throw a single with this type of intro. But in all seriousness the song above is reallly good. Anyway I'll be happy with whatever LP puts out, I think the guys really mean it when they say they don't know what LP6 will sound like ha ha, I can imagine the diversity and craziness of the stuff they usually come up with during the writing process. I really hope HELLO, LOVE makes the cut, hoping for it to have some nice sax and clarinet layers.
So... I'm not jumping up and down right now because of what Chester said about LP going heavy simply because I will believe it when I hear it.
I really wish there were more than 5 songs STP will release with Chester. Though I understand it's an EP. I really think they're gonna bring in a lot of new fans (fuck the old obnoxious Scott loving ones). Good or bad news for Linkin Park? Chester seems to really love playing with STP. How long can he consistently be in both bands?
