Stone temple pilots Nine inch nails IMO the soft side of linkin park combined with U2 would be amazing but would never happen
I've always thought Aaron Bruno from Awolnation would be a good person for Linkin Park to do a collab with.
I'm surprised that new life was breathed into this thread recently! I've been thinking about how LP could collaborate with the bands that I mentioned in my original post. While many were not satisfied or disagreed with my choices, I would like to share a few songs from RED that I feel could really mix well with LP's diverse sound: The first song is from their first album, End of Silence and is one of several tracks that is uniquely structured compared to the more traditionally structured tracks. That build-up in the intro is one of my favorite parts of the song, as well as the build-up in the outro, which is full of energy and intensity. The second song is from their third album, Until We Have Faces. While it is traditionally structured, the inclusion of the bells and strings really adds to the drama and emotion of the song. I think that LP could really benefit from using more strings and maybe even bells for more serious/darker songs.
Grimes Pendulum/Knife Party (given their cover of The Catalyst and previous tour) Phantogram The Glitch Mob (their new album kills)

That's why these kinds of ideas need to be scaled down. LP/Deftones wouldn't work ... but Shinoda and Chino would definitely work, and, in fact, has worked in the past.
