Using all of the tracks from Linkin Park's pre-HT to the album Hybrid Theory era, compose a track list of what you would think to be the perfect Hybrid Theory CD. To kill unfunny jokes right off the bat, don't compose a track list full of interludes or the same track repeated, or even just reposting the Hybrid Theory track list. Mine would be: 01. Papercut 02. Crawling 03. With You 04. Points Of Authority 05. One Step Closer 06. By Myself 07. In The End 08. A Place For My Head 09. Part Of Me 10. Forgotten 11. Cure For The Itch 12. She Couldn't 13. Pushing Me Away
1.Papercut 2.One Step Closer 3.With You 4.Points Of Authority 5.Crawling 6.Runaway 7.By Myself 8.In The End 9.A Place For My Head 10.Forgotten 11.Cure For The Itch 12.Pushing Me Away Absolutely perfect.
01. Papercut 02. Step Up 03. One Step Closer 04. Crawling 05. With You 06. Part Of Me 07. In The End 08. And One 09. A Place For My Head 10. High Voltage 11. Pushing Me Away 12. Forgotten 13. She Couldn't 14. Points Of Authority 15. My December ^ Perfect.
1. Papercut 2. With You 3. Points Of Authority 4. Forgotten 5. Crawling 6. My December 7. Step Up 8. Carousel 9. A Place For My Head 10. And One 11. Dedicated 12. Cure For The Itch/High Voltage 13. Pushing Me Away (14. She Couldn't) Basically an album that starts off with your typical HT style 4-chord powerchord hard rock songs, and then leads into a more nuanced hip-hop based second half. With the exception of Pushing Me Away, but I always thought that was a great sounding closer. A little hidden bonus track in there too. Also, making this list made me realize that Hybrid Theory's lyrics are quite a bit better than we give them credit for sometimes. Angsty yes, but sorta poetic too. Lots of metaphors and wordplay, a lot less "you and me" than I remembered.
I'm not much of a fan of Hybrid Theory or the songs composed during its time so I slightly adjusted the songs to fit my ideal version. 1. Papercut (Chester's Higher vocals added on bridge + Screaming back up vocals during Mike's verses) 2. With You (Come On scream added) 3. Points of Authority (Demo portion "It's Time to Sink or Swim" added) 4. A Place For My Head (Demo portion of Mike's last rap verse at the very end with turntable scratching added) 5. Crawling (Mike's Rap from Demo added) 6. Pushing Me Away 7. And One (Sang like the Rock Am Ring version) 8. Part Of Me 9. Carousel 10. So Far Away 11. Reading My Eyes 12. She Couldn't
1.Papercut 2.One Step Closer 3.With You 4.Points Of Authority 5.Crawling 6.Runaway 7.By Myself 8.In The End 9.A Place For My Head 10.Forgotten 11. Dedicated 12. And One 13. Cure For The Itch 14. Pushing Me Away Bonus Track: She Couldn't
01. Papercut 02. One Step Closer 03. With You 04. Points Of Authority 05. Crawling 06. Slip 07. Carousel 08. In The End 09. A Place For My Head 10. And One 11. Cure For The Itch 12. Pushing Me Away I think the original tracklisting is perfect but I was never a huge fan of Runaway, By Myself or Forgotten, so I replaced those with other HT era songs I love.
1. Papercut 2. One Step Closer 3. With You 4. Points Of Authority 5. And One 6. Dedicated 7. By Myself 8. In The End 9. A Place For My Head 10. Forgotten 11. Reading My Eyes 12. Cure for the Itch / High Voltage 13. She Couldn't 14. Pushing Me Away
Stick the remake of High Voltage between Cure for the Itch and Pushing Me Away like was probably intended in the first place, and I'd be happy. Maybe add some kind of intro track/an extended intro to Papercut too. Always felt like they could have built up the beginning of that album a little better.
1. Papercut 2. One Step Closer 3. With You 4. So Far Away 5. Points Of Authority 6. Crawling 7. Carousel 9. And One 10. In The End 11. Part Of Me 12. A Place For My Head 13. My December 14. Pushing Me Away 15. She Couldn't
01. Papercut 02. One Step Closer 03. With You (Come on! intro) 04. Carousel (Demo (Revised)) 05. Points of Authority 06. Crawling 07. Part of Me 08. By Myself 09. In the End (Untitled verses) 10. A Place for My Head (Esaul verses) 11. Forgotten 12. And One (minus the rap part at the end) 13. Cure for the Itch/High Voltage 14. Pushing Me Away Runaway gets the boot while Cure for the Itch & High Voltage become one long track.
I really can't better HT's track list. Perfection. As Xero said, the lyrics on HT were better than most give it credit for. Sure, there may be that element of nostalgia creeping, but really songs like Forgotten is where I believe Mike was in his absolute element. I think I'll put some HT on now. Sick of listening to UIG lol
