I'm on a similar wavelength. Papercut was a kick in the teeth, and the opening for ATS, though not heavy, was really out of this world. I thought LOST IN THE ECHO set a great tone for LIVING THINGS at first, but over time it flattened out for me. If Keys to the Kingdom brings what Papercut did, and one of the songs hits the same barrage of power as the climax in A Place For My Head, I think this record will be a contender.

I think in the modern age, it's a good way to keep people interested and gain momentum, a cycle for a single (video, promotion etc) can drag a bit.

If the complete album is an experience (ATS, Kid A, Good Kid Maad City) then I'd say it's a bad idea, but from what I've heard of THP so far it's actually made me more excited if anything, for a collection of good songs

Honestly I think this song is pretty wack. I think they could have used Rick Rubin for this record.

It's not even heavier than Faint, and that was a single. It's definitely not heavier than Hit the Floor either. That song never seems to get mentioned.

Agree on instrumental being quite well crafted, it's really just the lyrics for me. :|

And Chester didn't sound cheesy when he screamed

CRAWLING IN MY SKIIIIINNNNN THESE WOUNDS THEY WILL NOT HEALLLLL?

Or when he sung

I'VE BECOME SO NUMB I CAN'T FEEL YOU THERE?

Linkin Park has always been pretty cheesy with the exception of some songs like Burning In The Skies and The Little Things Give You Away, but part of their cheesiness is what makes their appeal.

the soft songs dont bother me, a heavy album doesnt need to have only heavy songs.

i hope it really impress me, KTTK only got positive reviews, it cant be a bad song.

UIG is a ballad, even if you call it something else its not heavy, so...
Rebellion is heavy, but the vocals do make a big difference

compare these 2 songs:

this song its heavy instrumentally, but the vocals are very melodic and clean. making it completely diferent and much less heavy than the other one

So far I have resisted, but the wait is killing me. So glad to see what looks like universal praise for this track.

To be fairly honest, this sounds very Minutes to Midnight-esque!

Hit The Floor is one of my favourite LP songs, it's probably the most lyrically aggressive song they've made. You can imagine that song playing during a murder scene in a movie where a guy repeatedly stabs his victim, tearing their insides while blood erupts from the body on his face, showing no expression of remorse or guilt for the act he is committing.

Anyway I'm excited to hear the rest of the songs, especially KTTK and War, hopefully the songs are aggressive like Hit The Floor is :)

It feels like it could fit on Either Minutes or Suns, that atmosphere synth is so beautiful and it clicks with Chester's vocals so well that it's hard not to like this song.

Hehe, yeah.

Isn't War only like 2 and a half minutes though? A shame it's so short if so.

Based on the reviews, KTTK and War are the heaviest songs on the album. AFN looks a bit heavy too, but not as heavy as those.

I suppose MTG and ALITS have both heavy and soft elements, so, I don't thing they are the songs the ''heavy fans'' are looking for.

But I don't really know since I haven't heard it. I might be wrong.

Sounds like a grower. Is this the first time LP used that guitar-strumming style (the subtle palm-muted guitar in the verses)?

shit, I don't even care if not all the song aren't "heavy". i'm just happy to hear guitars again as the main instruments instead of being in the backseat.

Since this is probably the final song we'll hear before the inevitable leak I think it's safe to rank all 5 'promo songs'.

1. Guilty All the Same
2. Final Masquerade
3. Rebellion
4. Until It's Gone

....Daylight

... 5. Wastelands

Same here. Only one more listen to each song and then they are gone until album drops.

Just because one song is more heavy then the other doesn't mean the less heavy song isnt heavy.

We arent expecting LP to be Suicide Silence here. (just a randomly example)
