THP seems like a concept album, talking about War, politics, and Government Just like ATS, so is THP ATS part 2? What is your opinion
Nope. Natta. No. It is not. Also, just because there is a theme of politically charged songs does NOT make it a concept album.
On a pure technical basis, THP is far superior to ATS. Just saying... But yep, you won't get much people to agree with you. ATS is God on this forum. And nothing can touch God's level. That's funny because, in inside, the record showcases, I think, the same passion as ATS. It has interludes. It has kind of a running theme. It has 5 min + songs, and some not-totally-classic structures. It has its jarring moments. But you know...
OP isn't trying to argue that "The Hunting Party" is an objectively superior album to "A Thousand Suns", nor vice-versa.
I would agree with the technical basis. The material on THP is far more difficult to perform than what you had on ATS. Then again, as a whole, I do believe ATS is the far superior album (that's just my personal opinion). And I wouldn't say that just because people like ATS so much, they won't agree. THP just isn't a sequel of sorts to ATS. It's a different album that touches on different concepts, but ATS was centered on very specific thematic elements that repeated throughout the course of the album. THP isn't that way. It's not strung together the same way that ATS is.
I know that. I'm not trying either. But I think the simple idea of THP being compared to ATS in a particular aspect will not be agreed upon a lot. I feel like ATS is rated so high right there that any form of comparisons will often fall flat.
I stand by the fact that, while The Hunting Party is not a concept album, it still carries a powerful message throughout.
I wish it was ATS part 2 This feels like it will get boring fast. Already somewhat getting boring, I already skip straight to the last 5 tracks. Good. Because Objectivity doesn't exist in music.
It feels closer to MTM than ATS to me, in terms of purely theme and message. ATS also was much more a experiment in making sounds that Linkin Park wasn't used to making. In that regard THP is much closer to Meteora than any other album. Now in terms of where THP ranks in all time LP albums, I think it's going to land 2nd or 3rd to me. In comparison to this, Living Things feels like a huge missed opportunity to really mix this heavy sound with the electronics of ATS.
Yes. 100% for me.(Not because of the concepts... not at all) And I really feel people saying that it isn't, is saying it because they don't like the album as much. ATS part 2 should sound nothing like the first and I really felt this is step for the band in the right direction. Yeah few tracks feels out of place on the record but overall the vision the band had with this record is probably even more visionary than with ATS(take out all the bashing and ego trips). ATS is still my favorite record but this album have shown the band evolve in a way that we haven't seen since the ATS/MTM days. On a technical level this is their superior album(not that that is saying much) and the band(Especially Rob and Brad) put a lot more effort in making this album something new and in the process they have become better musicians.
