    Edge of Tomorrow: 2.5/5

It was painful to watch. Especially the first hour or so.

    X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) - 4.5/5

Hands down the best X-Men film so far. I thought First Class was up there with X2 as the best but this surpassed both those films. The action is shot brilliantly, the CGI is used creatively, the setup of the story makes sense without coming off as contrived (as they sometimes do when time travel is involved) and it doesn't burden you with expositions either. In the midst of all the heavy action, you get clever references to past films and moments that allow characters and their motives to breathe. For a summer action film to hit all these notes so consistently, it's definitely a great achievement.

A Million Ways to Die in the West - 2.5 out of 5

It's no Ted, but Seth MacFarlane's sophomore directorial effort is enjoyable nevertheless. The problem comes from the lack of seamless transitions between plot points, but the modern dialogue in the setting of 1882 somehow makes for a constant gag, much like Family Guy. Although one fun cameo was ruined via trailers, another remains that is just as, if not more, exciting.

    22 Jump Street - 9/10

Let's just say I felt horrible the night after watching the movie, because my stomach was gassy from laughing too hard.

Watch the scene after the end credits. Just do it.

    The Raid 2: Berandal (2014) - 4/5

Fucking fantastic in terms of action but it suffers from a unnecessarily convoluted plot. They should've kept the premise simple like the first one... that's why that worked so well. This one expands the universe and we do get some mindblowing action sequences because of that, but the overplotting really doesn't add anything to this film.

Oh and honestly I missed Mike's production :/ It really went with the feel of the film.

    Godzilla - 3/5

It was a good movie, but it was far from great imo. Without spoiling anything, the first 20-30 minutes were awesome, but then it became kinda boring until the very end. But definitely worth watching.

Zack and Miri Make A Porno - 2.5/5

Shit, movies I've been seeing recently are not leaving a good impression on me. Well, Godzilla and Transformers this week.

Firefly/Serenity 7.5/10: I know it's a little weird but I'm going to lump the show in with the movie. Ok, Firefly was pretty good, but I don't see why it has such a cult following. Maybe that's just the nature of Sci fi and nerd culture. But to me it just feels like western meets Sci fi. Anyways movie was alright. Felt a little disconnected from the show though, yet at the same time didn't really feel any grander than the show. None of this is to say I didn't enjoy the hell of it. Just let me down a touch after all the build up. Though to be fair, there was probably no way it could have ever lived up to the hype considering just how much there is.

It's a great show, but I agree, it doesn't really deserve the following it gets. It has that "canceled before it's time" quality that nerds go gaga over, one major factor IMO.

Serenity, as a conclusion to a TV show, is pretty great. But as a standalone movie, it kinda sucks.

    SPOILERS!

Why the FUCK did Wash have to die? Seriously, it served NO purpose! :cocainefan:

They did make... That event rather inconsequential. It was shocked and rather sad but it was so unceremonious. Anyways I don't mind that nerd culture has these types of cult followings for shows or things like firefly. I mean that's what being a nerd is. I can't hate on them for loving something they like when I have a similar love for stuff like Doctor Who and Mass Effect.

Indie Game: The movie 9/10: This is a pretty fucking intense documentary. It makes you stressed just watching the damn thing. Just watching what these indie developers go through to become successful. It's insane. This shit really sucks you in. If you're a gamer, watch this.

    Under the Skin (2014) - 4/5

Definitely a proper mindfuck. I constantly kept thinking that this is something Stanley Kubrick and David Lynch would cook up if they ever worked together. Some of the visuals in here are so unique and jarring I can honestly say I haven't seen anything like them in a film before. It's shot beautifully, has a strong sense of tone and the sound design is absolutely brilliant. Music in this film really adds to the tension and atmosphere. Only reason I'm not giving it a perfect score is because I still can't figure out what the hell the whole thing was about... maybe it will make sense with repeated viewing.
