Since some of the songs in the album obvisously had influences of the genre, it would become more popular than it was before. For those who don't know what Crossover Thrash is, It's a form of Thrash Metal and Hardcore Punk which is a combination of both or had influences from each other. The most notable bands like Hatebreed, Suicidal Tendencies, the early Corrosion of Conformity, Agnostic Front, The Accüsed, The Exploited, and Madball are perfect examples as the definition of the genre.
If you think about it. Now that the album is done, all that talk about revolutionizing(I guess I'm exaggerating) rock wore out after the album came out. I guess it was just the driving force or inspiration and a marketing tactic? I don't know. I love THP but I don't think it will do anything like that nor was it ever meant to be.
Well, no, there would have to be thrash on the record for it to popularize thrash Oh dear, my elitist is showing
An album that's barely halfway to achieving Gold status isn't going to "popularize" anything, sadly. Sales may not be the best indicator of an album's success, but the fact that fans at the Carnivores tour were routinely clueless when the band played GATS/UIG despite both going to #1 at rock radio doesn't speak well for THP. Many people at the show I attended either openly admitted that they hadn't listened to the new album, or were completely unaware of its existence altogether.
THP clearly didn't change anything in today's music. There was a certain hype before/when it was released but noone gives a fuck about it anymore.
Ahem, Tinley Park But yes, I agree, everyone around me went crazy once GATS hit. UIG, FM, and Rebellion were big among the crowd too. Didn't get many for Wastelands tho.
If THP will popularize Crossover Thrash, it'd take a few years or a bit more to happen, not right now. Garage Rock is a good example, Jack White maybe one of the genre's biggest icons, but the Stripes didn't really start the Garage Rock revival commercially. It was the Grunge bands that started it in the first place who some way had/have some influences of the genre especially Pearl Jam when they added a few Garage elements on No Code like "Hail, Hail." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=83zlG8RChDo
