For the first time ever, I agree with you completely lmao

IMO Dark Before Dawn is a little better than Saturate, it's still pretty bad though.

Why would think their return would be impactful? They haven't been relevant for ages now.

Except... you know... outselling Slipknot and Linkin Park. Two of the only real "relevant" rock bands out today.

Wow had no idea. Thought they kind of faded into obscurity.

I think he meant impactful in terms of the 'wow factor' of the music, and the overall impact of the first listen/impression.

As soon as I heard 'Failure', I kind of felt the album wasn't going to be anything too special which bums me because despite the fact that all the original members (sans Ben) left/were fired from the band, I thought a new lineup might bring a totally rejuvenated sound.

Instead it brought the same old same. Although, Will's explanation as to why does make sense.

A.) I wouldn't call them the only relevant rock bands today. B.) Of course it's gonna sell well. It's been a good 4 years since their last album, unlike Linkin Park and Slipknot who released albums two years after their previous album. Just because this album sold better doesn't mean it has any more impact than one that didn't sell as well. It just means there were more fans hyped up to buy a return album.

It had been 6 years since Slipknot or BB had released a studio album. I doubt a lot of devoted fans care about a compilation of already-released songs with a few extra nuggets in comparison to a studio album. Slipknot was on hiatus starting in 2010. BB didn't go on hiatus until 2011 or 2012.

Their older stuff sounds so dated and old now. It's like rock for high school kids. Hearing that this new album falls in that realm definitely isn't a good thing for the band and for the fans as well.

Yep, pretty much what I meant. I wasn't speaking in terms of impacting rock music but making a lasting impression on myself. I've listened to the album 5 times and Failure is the only track I can remember. I used to be a huge fan and I've seen them live 6 times but I think I have outgrown this kind of music.

Dark is by far the best song in the whole thing.

Don't think I posted my opinion. Great album, probably their worst work to date, but still a solid album. Ashes of Eden is a fantastic song, in the running for SOTY
