I think the roughness of the demo makes the song sound all the more melancholic, which works in its favour. Everyone would hate a more polished version
I dont know, I could imagine it to be cool if the samples would be a bit more high-res (or the song as a whole). Would sound really fresh, I think. But the vocals should stay as unedited as they are, of course!
I wanna hear Primo with a finished, raw-sounding drum track. The drums in that song sound so demo-ish
Time flies so fast! Happy birthday, A Thousand Suns. Still hoping that the band would revisit this kind of style and expand it more.
Damn. Daaaaaamn. I remember when The Catalyst dropped and I couldn't listen to anything else for weeks. 5 years? That is amazing. I guess we'll give this bad boy a spin today.
Man, 5 years already? I'm wearing my favorite LP shirt just for today, and it's the Full Moon shirt from the ATS era.
Was not that hardxcore at the time. I saw LPTV had uploaded a new song, I listened to it. And again. And again. And again. And again...
Wow, I totally forgot ATS has been out 5 years already! Other than MTM, this was the album that really polarized the fanbase and opened up many new possibilities for what LP could do with their sound in the future. I remember listening to ATS the day it came out and being fairly disappointed that it wasn't "heavy" like their past albums. On the second listen, I liked it a lot more and started to get what it was all about, especially as a semi-concept album (I know Mike at one point said it wasn't a true concept album). I do think that LP has carried over certain elements from ATS into LT and THP, namely the unconventional song structures and the ambient electronic effects. Experimentation will no doubt be the definitive contribution of ATS to the rest of LP's discography IMO.
First LP album I listened to on release. Hated it. A few months later I gave it another shot and it's been one of my favourite albums ever since. I really hope they return to that style of writing. Not necessarily that sound, ambient, electronic, whatever, but just the way it was written. It's a proper album, the flow was on point, and we got so much that we never knew the band could do. THP has a bit of that, but I really hope they just go balls to the wall alternative again, regardless of whether it's hard rock, electronic, whatever.
Somehow i want the band to make a "real" concept record, especially to improve some of their lyrics But seriously, i think that could be quit interesting if they would do omething like that, also if that means, that they need more time than 18 months to release a new record (all 30 months would be a good time imo)
From the little we know at this point, LP7 will not sound like THP. This could mean several things, based mainly on speculation: 1. A lack of rawness of the instrumentation and vocals 2. Scaled-back aggression or barely any at all 3. Lack of focus on hard rock or borderline metal 4. Not as much of a presence for the guitars or drums These are all defining traits of THP, based on my various listens and feedback from this community regarding the album. If what Mike says is absolutely true, we could possibly expect a new album that is the opposite of THP and would have a different direction/philosophy altogether. Anyone's guess is as good as mine determining what genre(s) LP could be using or merging this time around. Speculate away!
"Chester (on tour with STP) tripped and fell into Eric's drumset last night in Detroit...he injured his left hand." "The hand isn't broken as far as we know but he hit it really hard...it's definitely injured." LPL Twitter. Seriously, that dude... I would really like to go to a M&G and bring a huge roll of bubblewrap as a present for Chester.
