Anyone else expecting this to be Ghost Stories 2.0? Not that I wouldn't mind, but I'm used to each album being radically different from the last. Yet, the short time frame from GS and "Amazing Day" feels like it will once again be another mellow mid-tempo album. I'm just hoping for something a little more daring or adventurous, not lullabies. I'm not asking for this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlOyl8m5X00 but the new single coming soon needs to give me something to be excited about.

I hope so, "Amazing Day" didn't exactly support that notion which is why I'm hesitant to be excited. Reading a little more, Chris Martin described it as "Something to shuffle your feet to", that could be elevator music for all I know. It just irks me that a band as talented as them went from making unique songs that separated them from the rest, to making EDM music with Avicii. The problem isn't that they're making bad music, the problem's that they're not making original music. A song like "Viva La Vida" is timeless, but a song like "A Sky Full of Stars" just feels like a product of the present. Don't get me wrong, I LIKE these songs, but it feels like wasted potential. It's why I commend LP for making an album that was unconventional for them as a mainstream band, when they easily could've banged out a bunch of radio friendly pop rock songs. Coldplay is doing the opposite of that. I guess I should just shut up until they actually release it, but I'm not expecting anything more than just a ton of MX/GS-tier generic pop songs. Not that I dislike those albums at all, but it honestly feels like VLV was the last truly innovative album they've done. They need Brian Eno back, he had the most involvement with VLV and it showed, he seemed to have the most understanding of where the band should go, then they went and made pop music with Rihanna and Avicii.
Apparently the new single is called "Adventure of a Lifetime". Coming friday? I have a feeling this one is going to be a big hit. Nothing like "Amazing Day", which is great, the album could be really diverse.
Song duration is 4:25 according to Spotify. Staying up for the live stream which is supposed to be within the next 20 minutes, if it isn't then I'll just listen to it when I wake up. EDIT: Well, that was pretty fun. I wouldn't have guessed that was a Coldplay song. Nothing like "Amazing Day", so this album should be pretty diverse.
