Yeah I totally agree, any strings they have used have been extremely basic. I'd love for them to collaborate properly with a proper arranger to get some really amazing orchestral work.

Invite Justin Vernon into the studio so he can piss Mike off by using AutoTune :sheldon:

But really, another Dust Brothers production would be good

    http://www.dustbrothers.com/

When was this site last updated, 2000? The latest "news" they have is that they recorded the soundtrack to The Fight Club.

Also, I find that entire site to be annoying as hell.

I don't think the Dust Brothers have publicly released/been involved with anything since they did some work with They Might Be Giants almost a decade ago. No idea if they're even making music anymore.

    Really? I had no idea.

I just loved Paul's Boutique and the production on "With You". I assumed all this time they were still making music.

Since the topic of orchestras has been brought up, I think that LP could look to RED as an example of how to implement varied string arrangements into songs that are of a hard-rock orientation (or some equivalent). RED's latest album, Of Beauty and Rage, without a doubt has some of the most intricate and varied arrangements I have recently heard from rock bands. I'm almost certain that RED collaborates with an actual orchestra (at least for the strings) when recording songs.

RED definitely works with real string players but not on the scale of an orchestra. Same with MTM. But the thing with MTM is that the band worked with David Campbell....

For the sake of argument I'd go ahead and say even this one has better strings...

David Campbell, whose son is Beck.

Beck and Shinoda might not be the worst thing in the world

That would be pretty cool actually. Not his hugest fan but Morning Phase is phenomenal. It'd fit in with the type of album they seem to be heading towards.

Alecia Moore (P!nk) would be a great collaborator with LP.

why there previous collab was dope

also I would love them to do a collab with Tim from Rise Against. I know they did a collab life on stage but I'd love them to do a proper collab in studio.

Rob Swire of Pendulum. Whether it included his vocals or just his production. I think it'd work well.
