I don't use Kazaa but I don't think shutting it down is going to stop file-sharing. For every existing file-sharing program that's shut down, a new one will appear. There are already tons of them all over the internet. Kazaa is getting more publicity than any of them because it's the most popular one but it looks like what happened to Napster is happening to Kazaa now.
Which is exactly why I use Bearshare instead of Kazaa. Dont stick to the big names like Napster and Kazaa, they're always the first target.
I have an anti-RIAA blocker on my Kazaa Lite K++, so they can't get to me. Even if they do shut down Kazaa, I've backed up all my songs, and even if I didn't back them up, I'd still have them on my hardrive, so I could just go to WinMX or Grokster and resume my downloading ways. I'm telling you, I'll never pay for a CD that's more than $15. A plastic disc with no more than 12 tracks average isn't worth more than that.
I don't even use Kazaa anymore. I used to use it a few months ago, but all the downloads would either stay queued forever or download at a really really slow rate so I gave up on it. I still use WinMX though. Mirc is also good too.
i nver use kazaa anymore winmx is much more reliable i think [/b][/quote] Seconded. KaZaA is better for MPEG's and files, but WinMX is much more reliable for MP3's. I use C++ for all other files.
Maybe it's just me, but I tried winmx and it just didn't work out too well. Yeah, I end up getting crappy files that aren't what I was looking for and ones that go crazy, but for the most part I think Kazaa is pretty reliable. I guess I should start looking elswhere though...
Direct Connect is the best The best client for Direct Connect is: http://www.gempond.com7odc It's the best p2p-program, the range is mutch bigger then Kazaa. http://www.slsknet.org/ Is also good
I've heard that kazaa isn't actually doing anything illegal and can't be shut down. With Napster they used to store all the files on big servers so it was illegal, but kazaa is totally p2p so cant be touched. i dunno if this is true but it's what i have heard.
Filezilla First, download Filezilla.. Download, install.. blablabla. Work trough the Help thingy so you know how to do stuf. Go to this and find your mp3's. If you found any, right-mous-click-button it on the F and hyperlink it, or something. ctrl-v it in adress and click on Connect
wow... it sounds complicated... well i guess ill just have to try it out and see how it goes. thanks chris.
