About Numb I meant the structure, nothing more. I just feel like they are similar. But they are definitely not the same song. So yeah, I agree. I also agree that they always delivered. Even if It took me time to sink it in and listen many times but their records always were the favorite at some point. Even THP which many hate. So with them hyped and proud about this particular record, I have no doubts that I will love it if I listen to it with an open mind.

I agree on this. I can't speak for the rest of the fans who don't like the 2 songs from the album but it's due to the (over)hyping that makes it disappointing so far. Sure, I could be to blame for setting my expectations high but I don't think it's all that.

LP has written bad songs....as well as good songs. But coming from the fact that they(or rather Mike) brag or preached about how they'll focus and experiment more on lyrics and songwriting for this album, so far it is a disappointment for me and some. I could care less about what genre or sound it's going to be, but at least practise what you preach, or give realistic statements about what you are doing for this album.(this isn't the first time Mike has done this)

I think the audience relatedness doesn't necessarily have to be a factor for good lyrics. If you have experienced what the song talks or portrays about, that's a bonus but doesn't necessarily mean it's well-written. Majority of ATS was about war and capitalism, something I have never experienced, yet I feel more connected and emotional hearing it then 'Heavy'. But with that being said, there could be other factors that complements and brings the lyrics to a whole new level. Like someone said, the lyrics have to complement the music/instruments as well, or vice versa.

Nevertheless, I'm still waiting for the album, and honestly I'm still listening to 'Battle Symphony'. :p

P.S: I have to admit after listening to this, I hope there's more songs on OML that are relatively positive/upbeat as this one; there's way too many somber and "emo" songs in the band's catalog, so I wouldn't mind a change of note.

I totally dig Rob's little marching drum in the first part of the song.

I finally found this song, and with how I felt about Heavy I was concerned for this one. Frankly I do enjoy Battle Symphony a lot more. It has a good beat, decent lyrics. Considering how divided the fan base has become recently I feared that I was going to err on the side that doesn't like this. This has elements of music that I currently enjoy which some may consider mainstream or pop. I'll elaborate and say that lately I have been listening to a lot dubstep/glitch hop/electronic kinds of music. That sort of music you can usually hear in the background of some "hit" music right now. I was hoping for something more aggressive however this still works for me. I'll call this one a win, for me at least.

I like this a lot. It's so positive. I love the imagery in the lyrics. Chester's vocals are on point. The beat is awesome. And the melody overall is really strong.

It's a feel good song that made me feel good.

Imagine Dragons and 21 Pilots are very good. Linkin Park are not (at least from every indication thus far) very good trying to make music that sounds like them.

Just goes to show there's no point reading about comparisons.

I don't hear Coldplay. I don't hear Twenty One Pilots. I don't hear Imagine Dragons. I don't hear Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez or Justin Bieber.

Linkin Park wants to make a pop álbum.
    That is ok for me.

What it is not ok is that this new style does not represent an enhanced versión of themselfs.
    Lyrically just a Little bit.
But the music, the instrumentation is lackin.

Where are the drumms, where are the guitars, ???
I am talking only about this 2 songs.

And i question .......3 years???? for this????

I repeat, Heavy an BS are good average songs.

I'm still super excited for the album. BID and LIES GREED MISERY were the first two songs we heard from LT and both were kind of shit but the album still had some gems on it.

I dig it -- especially that opening hook. Lyrics are strangely positive for an LP song but I like that.

The overall reaction to OML so far has me feeling like it's 2007 again. Which I'm OK with. What a hilarious year for LP fans.

It's shaping up to be another hate-it-or-love-it record and I'm very much down with that. Excited to read how much they've betrayed their sound.

Seriously astounded people are still having this conversation ten years later.

I'm resisting the urge to listen to Battle Symphony (and any other new song that comes out) until the album drops. I don't want to ruin my first listen of the album like I did with The Hunting Party since I already listened to practically half of the album once it came out. My willpower game is strong as fuck this time around.
