I'm sorry, but I found those old Xero songs to be 1000x times more interesting than what I've heard from OML so far.

    The song is okay.

I'm not entirely sure why you preceded that with "I'm sorry"

I'm enjoying this track so far. I do agree with some one here that it could be a bit more dynamic though. Perhaps a little more layers of guitar or maybe an additional tempo change at some point.

For those of you who aren't looking forward to the album. Two things I want to address.
First, if you just don't like this direction in general and you don't want any pop oriented tracks, then I understand why you've pretty much given up on the album.

For those of you who like pop oriented tracks but want the band to utilize their skill sets better, don't give up on this album just yet.

This is only 2 tracks. We still have another 80% to this album.

Keep in mind that these are probably the most accessible tracks from the album. The rest of the songs could be a lot more versatile than these 2.

Well yeah, I find it a bit sad to prefer borderline amateur stuff they did 20 years ago over their brand new stuff.

even before, I mentioned I want LP to go soft, pop oriented songs and here now, the wait is killing me.. If this album pays off so well then probably LP8 will be pop/experimental ala ATS.

Just logged in to say I fucking love Battle Symphony, and if I'm wrong for feeling that way, I don't wanna be right!

Also, that finger snap during the first verse. :)

Edit: My finger is about to snap after all the times I've hit the replay button.

Living Things: We had Burn It Down and Lies Greed Misery.
One More Light: We already had Heavy and Battle Symphony.
U know what I mean? My expectation for this album is still high after those 2 tracks.
    Save the best for last!

At least, at the end of the day, when LP packs their bags, we'll have ourselves a very unique band who explored most genres in the music industry (if not all by then) and expressed themselves in numerous styles. Their music has always been dynamically relatable, and they've never targeted only a specific portion of audience to be pleased by their music. Hence, if you don't like one album, you'll surely like some other album by them. To me, their music is so diverse that I never get tired of listening to this band.

With that said, I love Battle Symphony. Oh, and...

Did anyone think of Hands Held High drums when they listened to the light drums in the first chorus of Battle Symphony?

Has anyone else noticed how easily Welcome fits into the creative mindset that must have spawned Heavy and Battle Symphony?

I thought Final Masquerade (acoustic) was the inspiration of OML (album) but it turned out to be 'Welcome' is the inspiration and I like that though I was hoping for an acoustic/chill record.

I think Mike's gone on record as stating (Paraphrasing here) it happened in the opposite order, that Welcome spawned out of Linkin Park material that didn't fit in with the direction of the band as a whole but worked with Mike's solo production. It's just surprising to me how clear it is that these all spawned from the same kinda area.

yeah, because Mike mentioned that some of the demos were kinda under LINKIN PARK basket and considered Welcome to be a FM standalone single. So maybe when Welcome was a success for the general fanbase, the band decided to go this route. I didn't see this coming. In my mind was Final Masquerade (acoustic) direction.

Again you're missing the point. Welcome wasn't the inspiration for OML, it was a product of OML's cycle that the band felt didn't fit.

If you're saying that you didn't expect that same inspiration that spawned everything around Welcome and OML to carry over to OML (in clearer wording, that they came from the same source), it'd probably help to clarify that.
