Imagine Dragons was my favorite band for a while a few years back, when Night Visions was popular.

I never cared for Smoke + Mirrors, though.

Bleeding Out used to be my favorite song ever, and it remains my favorite Imagine Dragons song, even if i don't really listen to them anymore.

Musically, Believer is way better than most of the shit Imagine Dragons has put out so far.

Lyrically the song is trash, most of it sound like placeholder lyrics.
I can't believe I once thought these guys were actually good.

The song is better than most of their recent songs, but it sounds a lot like their old dark soundtrack stuff. Nothing really new tbh. I liked it better when they mixed stuff with their current sound with their Killers-like indie stuff, like some songs from Smoke+Mirrors. But we'll see.

Kind of my thoughts as well. Flow is good, the song itself is dull. They play it a bit too safe with their music, which is starting to make them uninteresting to me. I still like the band and I'll listen to the new album, but I'm not hyped for it. The rest of the next album could actually be decent, though who knows.

At least it works well as a commercial song for the Nintendo Switch, lol.

I actually really like Imagine Dragons. They may seem like sellouts, but do you realize they started out just like LP, the biggest thing at the time. Since I didn't really get to see LP grow up as a bad (I was too young for that), I'm looking forward to watching ID grow up. Just waiting for news about their third album.

They have a new song "Thunder" out. It's alright, I guess?

The music video is pretty weird, and the song is a bit different for them. Yeah, it gets really repetitive, but I'm kind of digging it. I wonder why there's still no release date for the album yet, it's been months since "Believer". Anyways, I'm a bit more excited for the album now.

Really digging the song. Surprised but thankful they've stuck with fewer tracks.

Thunder > Whatever It Takes > Believer for me.

Believer was okay, but I like these two new tracks a lot. I'm more excited for the album than I was.

With the span of just over a month there's a new LP album, Coldplay EP, and Imagine Dragons album. I love it.

I'm pretty excited for the album now, I've liked everything I've heard so far with "Believer" being the weakest for me. I was expecting to find the album "meh", so I find some of these tracks a pleasent suprise. Their last two had some of what I would label as filler tracks, so I like the decision to trim it down this time.

Holy crap, "Walking the Wire" sounds really good. I'm glad this sounds a lot like a mix of their indie pop influences with stadium rock. Definitely a big step up from the other songs.

I think I love Walking the Wire the most out of all the tracks that were released. Such a good song.

I think I kinda get now why I like the stuff of Evolve so far a lot more than Smoke+ Mirrors.

They're a lot more confident in writing poppier/pop rock songs compared to straight-up rock songs. The new songs reminded me of their fun, catchy indie pop early days, and Night Visions balanced both that and their Alex da Kid-esque dark emo pop rock. Smoke+Mirrors was more style than substance, and felt that they needed to make things big, booming and stadium-filling. It's a lot shorter. Smoke+Mirrors, while I liked the songs, felt like it could go forever. Didn't help that the full version was 18 songs. I listened to S+M and I realized my favorite cuts from that album ("Shots", "Summer", "I'm So Sorry", "Trouble") managed to mix both their pop influences with their dark themes, which the new songs are exploring more.

Also, holy shit, "Thunder" was produced by Alex da Kid?? An Alex da Kid where the drums aren't massively booming?
