Linkin Park made a surprise video post on their Facebook page earlier today performing "Good Goodbye" from their forthcoming 7th studio album: One More Light. In this rendition of the song, Mike Shinoda debuted his second verse which did not make it onto the studio release since verses from Pusha T and Stormzy were featured. In the video below, you can listen to Mike's second verse starting at 1:55. Below the video are the transcribed lyrics for your convenience.

    Live from the Genesis
    Underlining for emphasis
There is no way to pretend that we don't really know what the ending is
Part of me thinking that even addressing is being too generous
Do you really think they'll notice when you get removed from the premises
And it makes you so mad that somebody else could be stepping in front of you
And it makes you so mad that I wont give you the respect that the others do
And you can't understand the fact that it's over and done
    Hope you had fun
You've got a lot to discuss on the bus headed back where you're from

What do you think of Mike's second verse on "Good Goodbye?" Discuss it in our forums!

Loved it. Such a dope verse, kinda wish it was there instead of Pusha T's verse in the actual song.

That second verse sounded more like a demo version of the first verse rather than an original second verse that got replaced by the guest artists.. to me at least

This song is a lot of fun live. I love the guitar part Brad added in the intro.

Pretty similar to his first verse tbh. Not too sad about having the Pusha T and Stormzy verses instead at all!

Pretty cool, but I got more excited by the sound of LITE at the end lol. Hope that's played in full in the set, or at least that it's reminiscent of the original song and they're not just playing a small bit of it for Mike to rap over or something.

I haven't heard it yet (I'm in the library doing a paper, not a good idea to be blasting it), but that new verse is...weird, especially when comparing it to the first verse. Pusha and Stormzy's bars are still superior imo.

I actually like this verse more than the original.
My problem with a lot of Mike's recent rap verses is that they sound so awfully streamlined and generic. This sounds a bit more raw and sort of wordy which I personally like a bit more.
Still not a big fan of the repeated parts or the song in general.

Given how well Heavy translated live, I'd hoped Good Goodbye would be alot better live. Couple of good bits (Brad's guitar licks on the intro, Joe's scratching around the 1:26 mark) but overall, it seems way limper than the studio version.

I hope Joe Hahn reworks his scratching for GG, because those added turntables sound too forced. Like 'oh, I'm a DJ, I must add turntables EVERYWHERE'.
Guitar licks in the intro are great, hope they save this for the shows.
And the second verse... The fact that we officially have two versions of the same song prior to the album release is pretty exciting, but I understand why Mike dropped the verse.
Though I loved the 'And it makes you so mad that I wont give you the respect that the others do' line.

The whole thing sounds badass live.

I'm glad that verse wasn't on the final song in place of either of the guest verses though it may have worked as a replacement for Mike's final verse. It seems a little more unique than what ended up on there.

I like the performance and if this is the year I finally get to see LP live then I'm looking forward to hearing it.

That second verse wasn't bad lyrically, it was the way Mike delivered it that sounded strange to me. He seems to be very fond of using that "accent" while rapping. I miss his original voice, as it sounded distinct enough already. However, it was a bit wordier than the first (and only) Mike verse in studio GG, and I did like that. It was reminiscent of his older rapping style, with the wordplay and symbolic lyrics.

I think Mike's "accent" in newer songs compared to his old super deep emo rapping voice is kinda inspired by some of the 90s rappers which influenced him as well as peers like Jay-Z and Drake which he has said many times that he listens to. It's just my observations trying to match his current rapping style with his playlists or the songs he says he likes in interviews  I personally like this approach more since the deep rap metal voice was kinda cringe-y and didn't really age well.

Huh, I find nothing cringey about Mike's "deep rap metal voice". If anything, it's so iconic to me because of its uniqueness, and the way he used to flow. Granted, not every old song flowed the same, with some verses sounding more forced. Still, I like his original rapping style just the way it is.

My opinion on Mike's older rapping is pretty unpopular, so it's ok. I used to listen to a lot of it during my Linkin Park "phase" and I loved it but it wore out on me. I find his new style of rapping a lot more natural and/or a sign that he's having more fun in doing so. It really helped the 2015 Fort Minor shows in my opinion. I'm in the minority though.

I really liked it and couldn't help moving my feet in the rhythm, can't wait to hear it live.
