Just got out of it... Very good representation of the last 12 hours of Christ. It wasn’t anti-Semitic, any one who has seen it and believe that is plain stupid. Any way about the violence, I thought it was worse because it was being done to our Lord, we know this really happened and that he did that for us. That made it hard to watch, but if it had been to another person, it wouldn’t have been as bad. Well, few things I had to say about it in a negative way, cept the crow pecking the eyes of one of the Thieves that was railing on Jesus, made it look like Jesus sent it to do that almost, was completely unnecessary! But man, I was impressed and happy they got most every thing right on! Good job Mel!
People die of heart attacks all the time while watching movies, but they just released that incident for hype.

Tell that to all the Jewish Religous Groups who've seen it....how do you know if its offending the Jews, especially if you are not one? Besides, movie-reviewers have given MUCH BETTER explainations than that to the contrary. I think it should have focused on the spiritual side of Christ's crucifixion, not just the physical. As you said it was a 'representation' of the last 12 hours of Christ! So it sticks very close to the Bible, which was ANTI-SEMETIC, since Christians wrote the Bible. At the time they hated the Jews, so obviously if they portrayed the Bible's story closely without a more modern interpretation than its gonna be Anti-Semetic I'm not going to see this movie, and I never will.
I refuse to see it, that anti-semetic bastard Mel Gibson doesn't deserve a penny of my money. And I may be athiest, but I'm also Jewish, I just don't believe in my religion, so anything offensive to Jews (which this movie is) is still offensive to me. And trying to say the bible is accurate is just insane. The things been translated and retold so many times that it's been changed.

I don't want to get into a religious debate here, but as a devout Catholic, I have been raised to believe every word of the new testament. In Jesus' last 12 hours, he was beaten, tortured, taunted and finally killed by a crowd. the fact that the crowd was Jewish is incidental. It really doesn't matter. I was never taught to hate Jewish people because of what they did to Jesus. After all, it was all part of God's plan to have Jesus killed. There is nothing to interpret in the New Testament. Yes, it is biased because of who wrote it. But never once does it say that the Jewish people were evil, or even wrong. It was all God's will. There is nothing to hold against Jewish people. One particular crowd two thousand years ago, not thinking clearly because of the crowd mentality, is not representation of an entire people. I know very little of the Jewish religion, but I do not dislike it at all. Perhaps the bible is not entirely accurate, but it tells a story that can't be too far off the truth. Oh, and Todd, Mel Gibson is not an "anti-semetic illegitimate offspring of unmarried parents". He just wants to make a provocative movie. And represent the religion that he has such strong faith in. And get money from it.
has the whole film got subtitles??? i wudnt mind seeing this film, but i think ppl are just tryin to make money of what some ppl consider to be the most important story ever.....
I got 2 questions was the movie really good and was the movie too gory and violent? I heard that the actors intials are JC and he just turn 33 in real life while Jesus in the movie is 33. I didnt know theres so many atheists on this site my atheist friend at works makes it sound like theres very few atheist people.
I really want to see this movie because I am a very religious person but I think I'll wait until it comes out on dvd. I heard this movie is really graphic and from all of the news stories and controversy surrounding it, it made me not want to see it just yet. :wth: /me waits until it comes out on dvd.
There's more than you think. I don't see why so many christians hate us, they all think we hate god and worship the devil, when all it is, is that we believe in nothing. It's not a big deal, but people have to make it one. Oh and I'm seeing the movie at 7:00.
Don't tell me how it ends, I want to see it! P) I won't be seeing this movie. And it's not just because I'm atheist, I also think it'd be boring. I'm a huge movie buff but this doesn't apply to my tastes.
I'm not sure if I want to see this movie or not. My mother went to see it today, but I didn't want to go with her. I've heard that it's unnecessarily violent. I've heard about the actor playing Jesus getting electricuted while on the cross. That is just plain freaky. I'm not religious at all, but I've always found it kind of blasphemous to pretend to be Jesus, whether it's in a movie, a play, or anything else, and that kind of reaffirms my belief on that. All in all, I kind of think I could care less if I ever see this movie, but my mom will probably make me watch it when it comes out on DVD
I heard the Pope saw it and liked it. The movie must suck.. J/k. I'm going to see it when it's old. Movie theaters are too full right now. Screw that.
