Linkin Park tops the Billboard Artist 100

I personally feel like this #1 is kinda a big deal given the fact that there are several well-known artists who have never hit the top spot on this chart, as well as them being the only rock artist to do so this year. Anyway, I believe that a #1 on any Billboard chart should be reason enough to celebrate, so congratulations, LP. Here's to more years of success in the future.

Given the fact that they're always changing and still able to hit #1 is what amazes me the most. Not many bands are even able to reach the top 50 doing the same sound let alone having this drastic of a change.

The album is predicted to sell about 27-30k in it's 2nd week.

Also, the album debuted with about 210k+ globally. This is lower than THP's worldwide debut of 270k tho.

It's still pretty awesome for a band that has been makingmusic for so long, whose last album went pretty unnoticed and all the hate they've been receiving for this one. Well done!

 

Worldwide I don't think the whole album will sell that much more than Hunting Party, but it seems like with this they were more focused on individual singles that would sell a lot. The album may not hit platinum, but I think the endgame is to get at least 2 or 3 songs to sell that much.

 

But good single sales should keep up interest in the album, at least helping album sales a little bit. But who knows, we'll just have to see.

 

Only 61% has been calculated and we will know officially hh the end of the day but One More Light has dropped from #1 to #23.

From 1 to let's say 20 in one week? People who wanted to buy it have already done it, new fans came and I guess haters' comments have influenced on album sales. So sorry for this, they haven't deserved it.

 

This is why I wasn't celebrating. Sure they got #1 but expected, pop album and linkin park? Should've been match made in heaven, unfortunately that's not the case. So I expect it to continue dropping after the first week. Lots of hype that mainstream crowd bought into and after it will just go down far deep into the rabbit hole.

The question now will be, did THP have better ability at retaining a high enough spot below #1 in the second week (or any other LP album) vs One More Light?

Logic "everybody" dropped by 86% in second week .

I don't know, put everything in perspective (how old the band is, how the reviews were, etc) it's not shabby for what's more or less a "overall most popular" type of chart. Like who last year thought Linkin Park would be a top of any most popular rankings in 2017 considering how all of the 2010s had been for them?

 

Justin Bieber has hit #1 multiple times too, that doesn't mean his music is great either.
