Yup, and I thoroughly enjoyed both those albums.

...could you, without lying to yourself and others, say they're "pushing their sound into new territory"?

I understand what Filip is saying, for all its relevance to this thread: in the context of current pop music, basically none of the styles covered throughout OML (my favourite LP album, BTW) are new, nor are they presented in a really interesting or innovative way.

I can't get enough of Nihilist Blues.

    I'm shocked.

    Ding ding ding.

I'm not saying it's bad music, so don't get your panties all in a bunch. I'm just saying nothing on those two albums, bar a couple moments was anything really fresh or creative. For fucks sake, when OML, a 2017 album came out, some compared the sound to "Roar" and "Wake Me Up", 2013 songs.

There's moments on OML (and PT, hurr durr) which are better than most of the stuff on "amo", but... none of it is really as fresh as anything on "amo".

Hm, okay, I can see that (though I'd question anyone whose making those song comparisons). I guess the way I see it is that LP had always continued to reinvent their own sound and push themselves to evolve and cover new territory. I hadn't quite looked at in terms of putting their music in the context of current pop music.

By no means would I say OML was groundbreaking in terms of current pop music (nothing like ATS or amo).

But they're new territory for the band, wouldn't you agree?

All: I think there's two perspectives in play here and they both have merits. Being LP-specific, OML definitely didn't feel like stale LP to me. My point is both bands (BMTH and LP) have a history of finding new ways to evolve their own sound and keep it fresh. That's not to be confused with me saying they're reinventing rock music.

Yes, I would say it was new territory for the band, but I don't think that's what Filip was talking about. Different contexts

I'm very conflicted by amo. I think I Apologize is The Requiem-tier amazing, but every other song is either already obsolete in their discography, clearly trend-chasing, or taking one step forward and one step back, whether instrumentally, lyrically, vocally, or otherwise. Nihilist Blues overstays its welcome by about two minutes, In The Dark is a great song with awful lyrics, Wonderful Life has that incredible brass outro but everything else is just so edgy, I Don't Know What to Say has a phenomenal build up but lasts a minute too long after the guitar solo and some really brief, but whiney vocal deliveries.

I really compare it to Linkin Park's One More Light, as both albums suffer from a lot of the same problems while seeking that cutting-edge pop sound. However, I will say amo is multitudes more ambitious. Overall though Sempiternal and That's The Spirit are far superior in my books.

    Lovely album.

This has been the fourth one in a row from them. Pretty impressed with the consistency.

New song Ludens is out. It's for the new Death Stranding game. It's great.

The songs off this "Death Stranding" album have been pretty good so far

except this new BMTH song. Generic mainstream pop trash :kappa:

Just heard Ludens for the first time and it was fantastic! I really dig the melody and the overall structure of the song. ^_^
