Mike has recently embraced the service "Community", making it available for him and fans to send SMS-messages back and forth privately. Earlier in the day Mike went live on Instagram and showed him finishing up a demo called "Open Door", which he has now released on Community!

But, Mike gave the OK for the song to be posted online for the international fans, so here you go:

If you want to interact with Mike on Community you can do so by sending a SMS to 310-935-0302 (only for USA) and if you want to watch the recorded stream of Mike working on the song you can do so here

March 19 Update: Mike Shinoda releases stems for Open Door along with a jam he did on Instagram Live yesterday. Download them below.

What do you think of the song? Come and discuss in our forums!

    I love this demo.

    Official lyrics:

    yeah
they tell you that you should quit trying
    you are too small
    that you are too young
they tell you the chance is too slim
    the world is too big
    but you say how come
I’m ready to light a new fire
    raise a new flag
to cross a new sea / and
If I’m ever the one in your way
    then put your head down
    and run right through me

so why keep settling for so much less
    don’t take what’s given
    just demand what’s next

we're looking for an open door
    something we didn’t see before
some way to get out of here a
plot twist that we didn’t see coming
we're looking for an open door
    something we didn’t see before
and when we get out of here we'll
take off and never stop running

no no we’ll never stop running
no no we’ll never stop running
When we get that open door
no no we’ll never stop running

it’s something like a shadow in the valley colossal
open up your eyes young one and be watchful
behind closed doors trying to write a new gospel
they are not God they’re not even apostles
I come with the dumb drum banging you breathless
enemies freeze left bent and defenseless
straight for the chest of anybody against us
the more they resist it the more that they tempt us

so why keep settling for so much less
don’t take what’s given just demand what’s next

we're looking for an open door
    something we didn’t see before
some way to get out of here a
plot twist that we didn’t see coming
we're looking for an open door
    something we didn’t see before
and when we get out of here we'll
take off and never stop running

no no we’ll never stop running
no no we’ll never stop running
when we get that open door
no no we’ll never stop running

Am I the only one not loving this? The chorus is catchy and all, but this feels pretty run-of-the-mill stuff from Mike.

Glad to get new music either way, though

It's a demo so I'm more than fine with it

I think it sounds more like:
Plot twist that we didn't see comin

‘Plateau we say’ should be ‘plot twist’ I think

His Fort Minor drums are really getting boring, but this is not bad.

Uh, that was pretty good for being just a demo! It's catchy as hell and that beat is super cool. Let's see what the future holds :)

His production has improved so much the last few years. The beats and instrumentals are more crisp and mixed better than a lot of the Fort Miner stuff. This doesn't sound like a demo at all.

Its pretty good. Second verse is a highlight but I'm not sure I can see this being anything more than "another Mike Shinoda" joint.

Verses are decent. Not a fan of the chorus that much. Overall, kind of generic. It is a demo though so it’s probably a work in progress

I don‘t know, Mike seems to ‚play it safe‘ with these last few songs.

I really miss his experimental side like ATS, that stuff was way more exciting.

My favourite part of the song is the pre-chorus part where he sings "so why keep settling for so much less"
