I know comparisons are clichéd and played out but I read somewhere that this sounds like if Faint was written for Living Things and I can't help but agree. The intro synth also really channels that vintage cartoon superhero soundtrack, like 60's Spider-Man and Superman. Am I alone on feeling that?
It's a fun song to listen to but I'm not super in love with it. It's very formulaic to the LP sound/song structure which can get a bit boring and predictable. I think the band very intentionally went back to the familiar HT/Meteora sound. It keeps fans happy and cushions the shock of hearing an LP song with a new vocalist. I just hope the rest of the album isn't this predictable/straightforward.
I'm holding off listening to this and I've managed to avoid it so far, what with the countless clips being posted on social media of the music video and live performance. I loved The Emptiness Machine, especially as a return single for this new era but I want to resist the temptation of listening to the other songs revealed before From Zero officially releases. However, I'm so glad to see how much the LPA and LPL is thriving and seeing it active again... just like the good ole' days. Seeing familiar names as well as news ones, it really is an exciting time and an experience I'm thoroughly enjoying. The build-up to this new record encapsulates what the hype train is truly about! It's a really joyous time being a Linkin Park fan right now and seeing them releasing 2 big hits, selling out shows and putting on amazing live performances - it's surreal and something I didn't expect a few months ago. I'm really happy to see Heavy Is The Crown is doing so well (I'm intrigued by the Faint and Meteora/The Hunting Party comparisons) and that majority seem to be praising it with a lot of positive reviews. As I said, I'm holding off until November 15th but I'm beyond pleased with Linkin Park's name being back out there in 2024. Some really exciting times ahead, that's for sure.
Yeah, I had to listen to HITC to do this post, but, beyond that, I'm mainly compromising by only watching live performances, and occasionally at that.
