Didn't find a thread for this, surprisingly enough. Whose shows have you been to recently? Share pics, stories, whatever you'd like! I just saw a band that came all the way here from Niger, called Etran de l'Aïr. They play Tishoumaren (desert/Sahara blues). Crowd was super into it, small venue, great vibe. It was great! Only took one pic lol
I went to see a band called "Punk Rock Factory", for those that don't know, they play rock/metal covers of kids TV themes (this minor detail was left out when I was invited, so you can imagine my surprise). It was pretty weird, BUT they brought out Jason Page to sing a metal version of the Pokemon theme song (JP is the OG dude who sings the actual theme we hear on the show), so there was one memorable moment
On Monday, I went to see the Norwegian progressive metal band Leprous for the third time! The last time I saw them was in 2022, and it was one of the best shows I've ever attended, so I was really pumped. They delivered. The tour was in support of their latest album, Melodies of Atonement. They played 5 songs from the record, all of which were my 5 favorites, so that worked out really nicely! On the studio recording, the song "Faceless" had a choir sourced from fan recordings, so here for the performance they have 3 fans come up on stage (I'm presuming they paid VIP) and perform the choir part from that song. It was really neat! One of the more exciting parts of the setlist was hearing them perform "Forced Entry" for the first time, a 10 minute epic that translated SO well live! In the years following its release, their 2019 album Pitfalls has become a favorite of mine, so that they played 3 songs from that one (albeit one just the outro) was really awesome. The biggest surprise of the 3 was "Distant Bells," the studio recording has a cellist, but these didn't have a touring cellist this tour, so they altered the composition a bit to use more keyboards. It was really cool, and nice to been thrown a curve ball like that. The coolest thing they did was for the encore, they late a fan chose the encore song! They threw an empty water bottle in the crowd, and whoever caught it got to pick 3 songs, one of which the band would play. This is a major regret for me, because the bottle actually came to me! But in my shock of it actually coming to me, I froze and didn't catch it. It's alright though, because the fan who did it picked a good one! "Slave," it's a banger. I look forward to when I can see Leprous live again!
2024 concerts: March 1st- Powfu, Jonie, & others at Neumos in Seattle. Powfu is my favorite rapper of all time but this concert was during a time where I thought I was dying. Felt like I couldn’t breathe or stand very well during the concert. But it’s the ONLY time Powfu has been to Seattle despite living just 3 hours away from Seattle. This was also my first time back at the venue that caused me all my problems to begin with. Neumos is where I got my first concussion of 2023 from a stagediver. This was also my first concert since June of 2023 because of health issues from the two concussions. March 15th- Chelsea Cutler & others at Showbox Sodo in Seattle. This was my 7th time seeing Chelsea Cutler. Chelsea put on a great show but it was also during a time I felt like I was dying so I didn’t enjoy it as much as I could of. July 14th- Blink-182, Pierce the Veil, & others at The Gorge Amphitheater in Quincy, WA. This was my first concert back since getting better. My anxiety was gone. My depression was gone. My concussion issues were gone. The only thing that was still around was my insomnia. But this show ruined my life once again. First off I lost my debit card somewhere between the car and the entrance and I could not find it anywhere. So now I had to pay for water, food, and merch with my parents credit card and pay them back. They did not know I was going to this concert. On top of this it was an outdoor venue and it was 90 degrees that day. Awful. The next problem was I paid extra to buy the lawn chair package instead of bringing my own lawn chair and they had none left when I showed up, nonsense! Don’t oversell a package! No refund either for that part of the cost. PTV and Blink-182 are two of my favorite bands of all time but both bands just put out mediocre records so I was unsure what to think about the show going into it. But both bands put on an incredible show and it was amazing seeing Thomas Matthew DeLonge (the greatest musician of all time) perform live again. This was my 3rd time seeing Blink-182 and my 2nd time seeing them with Tom. This was my 3rd time seeing Pierce the Veil. Pierce the Veil has always put on amazing show! However, night turned to chaos when I was speeding home (I always speed when I drive alone, bad habit). I lost control of my car, slid off the road, slid back onto the road and flipped sideways at least 3 times. My car was totaled but somehow there were no internal injuries. Praise GOD! I should be DEAD right now and God saved my life. However, I will always view this as one of the worst concerts I’ve ever been to now. August 7th- Olivia Rodrigo Night 2 at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. Olivia put on one of the BEST shows I’ve ever seen. She sounds perfect live and has so much energy and the visuals are nice. Plus the fact that I only dislike 1 Olivia song released to date, the setlist might have been the best setlist I’ve ever seen. It was my first time seeing Olivia Rodrigo because I didn’t want to pay $200 for resale tickets for the SOUR tour and I’m very happy I finally got to see her! September 6th- Gracie Abrams and Role Model at WaMu Theatre in Seattle. My legs were aching hard core that day but otherwise the show was incredible! It’s the first time I’ve been to WaMu where they didn’t have the bleacher seats section and they told me they only remove the bleachers if a show is sold out. So I guess this is the first sold out show I’ve ever seen at WaMu. Gracie had an incredible setlist and the energy of the crowd was wild. It was the first concert since my 2nd concussion of 2023 where I was dancing and jumping the entire time. September 7th- Sum 41, The Interrupters, and Many Eyes at WaMu Theatre in Seattle. Sum 41’s last tour. Incredible to witness a career spanning set from Sum 41 as they rocked the room. It was my 5th time seeing Sum 41 and they were just as good as they have ever been! Something was wrong with my nervous system at this show as my body almost shut down during the opening act. October 1st- The National, The War on Drugs, & Lucious at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle. The National put on one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. They sound just as good as live as they do in studio. The one negative to this show is my nervous system shut down yet again and I was basically asleep during The War on Drugs without actually being alseep. (Since my body will NOT fall asleep without medication, even if it looks like I’m the sleepiest soul on the planet.)These past two years have been brutal! I’m just thankful my body recovered in time for The National which is the artist I was there for! October 7th- Badflower, Slothrust, & Missio at Neptune Theatre in Seattle. This was my 1st time seeing Badflower live. Josh said he was sick but honestly you couldn’t even tell he was sick. He sounded really good live and the set was phenomenal. Only downside to the show was that they didn’t play x Ana x. I was also in a spot in the venue where I could record the whole show without even touching my phone. Very cool to have the whole set to go back and watch! It’s on my youtube if anyone wants to watch. October 18th- Marianas Trench, Girlfriends, & PIAO at The Moore Theatre in Seattle. This was my 2nd time seeing Marianas Trench and it’s hard to compare both shows. When I saw Marianas Trench in 2016 in Arizona I got to meet the band and get pictures with the members. The setlist back then was absolutely amazing and the setlist this time around was absolutely amazing. Josh Ramsay honestly has one of the best voices ever made. His vocal range is off the charts and he nails every single note live. Their production is insane too. For two of the songs Josh came into the crowd and he was a foot away from me at one point in time. I got some sick pictures and you can see just how close he got to me if you want to on my YouTube channel with “Haven’t Had Enough.” Both times I’ve seen them were very special. Girlfriends and PIAO were also incredible. Future concerts: November 4th- Enter Shikari (1st time seeing them) November 8th- Manchester Orchestra and Thrice (2nd time seeing each of them) November 16th- State Champs (9th time seeing them) June 16th, 2025- Ashe (1st time seeing her) September 25th, 2025- Thomas Rhett (4th time seeing him) Possible concerts: May 5th, 2025- Disturbed (would be my 2nd time seeing them) Photos to all shows on my Instagram
Oooh man, you will have a blast!! Enter Shikari live shows are so, so fun. It is a party from beginning to end. Seen them in Belgium (x2), UK (x2), and Germany (x1), and every time has been crazy. Next gig with them on December 14th, in the Netherlands. Can't wait!
On Friday of last week, I got to see Opeth! It was my 4th time seeing them. This show was kind of special, because it was a sold out show, and it was at the Majestic Theatre! I don't often get to go to the heart of downtown Dallas like this often, so it was pretty neat! I've been to The Majestic only once before, and that was for Steven Wilson in 2016. I had balcony seats this time rather than floor, which was a bit of a different, neat experience. It may be the best show I've been to from them? The set did an excellent job of weaving in tracks you'd expect like "The Leper Affinity" and "Demon of the Fall" while throwing in some great deep cuts. Hearing "Face of Melinda" from 1999's Still Life was a treat, and something I was not expecting at all, as was "Eternals Rains Will Come," which I've heard before, but so great to hear again outside of the tour that promoted the album it was on. The vibes were IMMACULATE. Not my video, but it captures the performance of "Face of Melinda" from that night very well. If you ever get the chance to see Opeth live, I'd take it.
I saw Sum 41 with Neck Deep as support here in Dortmund. Glad that i was able to see them for the last time because they really rocked hard!
I've only been to five concerts in my life Tame Impala in 3 Arena Dublin in 2019 Tool in 3 Arena Dublin in 2022 The National in Manchester in 2022, some old abandoned warehouse turned into a venue I can't remember the name of it The National again in 3 Arena Dublin in 2023(this was my favourite concert of the five) The Smile in 3 Arena Dublin back in March this year. Cool actually seeing Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwoood in person, the people who make all of my favourite music. I was going to see Fontaines DC in 3 Arena in December but sold my ticket I'll try get LP tickets for Wembley
Being a fan of King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard since 2020, one thing I've always lamented is that they've never played a show in Dallas since 2019, before I became a fan. For their current US tour, they set a 3 hour marathon show for Austin, which was incitive enough for me to make the trip, and I'm thrilled I did, it was an INCREDIBLE show! I didn't get too many photos since I was too busy moshing. The 3 hour set was essentially divided up into 3rds for each hour, the jammy hour, the rave hour, and the metal hour. It was a smart way to divide up the set, because the electronic part of the show was a nice come-down from the utter insanity that was the pit at this show! There were so many people moshing that it was sometimes just a sea of people pushing each other back-and-forth. It was absolutely incredible. You will find a photo of me below drenched in sweat only 4 songs into the set. Although, to be fair to myself, the first song was 30 minutes long! By far the most memorable part of the show was when the band started playing "The River." During the performance, the pit sat down on the ground and acted as if we were rowing a boat down the river. It was a hilarious thing to be a part of. I recorded a short video, but someone else on YouTube uploaded a video that captured it SO much better. Not something I'll soon forget! https://www.youtube.com/shorts/gduOmAFFNvc For the 3rd section of the show, the band played almost the entirety of their metal album "PetroDragonic Apocalpyse" save for the opening and closing tracks. When guitarist Joey Walker broke out the Gibson Flying V, me and someone else in the pit started laughing hysterically, because with how insane the pit had gotten at that show, we knew were were in borderline danger for what was to come. If you ever get the chance to catch King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard live, do so! It blows my mind how tight they are live. They opened with "Head On/Pill," a 16 minute song on the studio recording that turned into 30 with how much they were jamming and improvising. There's a jam they've been doing with "Shanghai" that, as it would seem by someone who obtained the printed setlist, has now turned into a full-fledged song itself now The chameleon way this band writes releases so many different styles of music was presented in this show. I can't wait to see them again!
They must surely be the most talented band that exists right now Their output is ridiculous, I don't know how they keep doing it, it's genuinely insane.
I remember thinking "huh, only 1 album this year?" with Flight b741, and then like two weeks ago they announced that the album would be getting a Part II recorded with an orchestra. Being a fan of that band means being endlessly spoiled.
