...Well then. There cannot be a set "Best Lyricist" because its all opinion. One person can really enjoy John Lennon's lyrics and another could think it was utter crap. You need to learn to accept opinions and not try to force yours on other people and call them ignorant if they disagree with you.

    Couldn't agree more.

I think it's stupid, rude and ignorant that you think everyone is ignorant just because they didn't metion some people's names!!

You've got to learn respect, as many others pointed out.

NO ONE listens to music and feels the same response that someone else does.
Someone could like the lyrics and relate to them, others might hate it. I'm not saying everyone has totally different tastes, they might be similar but not exactly the same.

Everyone is different and has their own opinions and tastes.

BTW I haven't heard ANYONE from your list.
I know the Beatles are famous but I don't like them

I don't have a favorite...hmmm...maybe Will, the poem was the only thing that made me cry
Other people might not have liked it because they don't like "soppy, mushy" stuff.

You don't have to be famous to be great, I've read some pretty amazing stuff here!

Just because we didn't post a lot of classic rock artists doesn't mean we don't like them. I love some of the artists you mentioned, but I am putting Davey Havok for my answer. Just because everyone doesn't like what you like doesn't make us ignorant...it makes you closed-minded.

Great list, Agalloch is an amazing band with some great lyrics B)

Too bad so few know of them, a great band that mixes black metal and folk elements!

But...people who like classic rock are automatically better then us, Duffy. We are lesser beings with bad musical taste. Duh.

lostinnoblivion - I don't like Pink Floyd. I don't like Neil Young. Maybe they have great lyrics, but I wouldn't know because I don't like the overall sound.

Dylan, the Beatles, the Who and Pearl Jam have good lyrics, yeah, but the people I list are the ones who wrote words that mean something to me personally, not the ones I just respect.

John Lennon & Paul Mcartney - The Beatles
    Billy Corgan - Smashing Pumpkins
Trent Reznor - Nine Inch Nails
Jónsi Birgisson - Sigur Ros (Have to know about their music to get why they have great "lyrics")

    Bob Marley
    Kurt Cobain - Nirvana
Gerard Way - My Chemical Romance
