the part where i'm studying is just 40 km off the coast of where the tragedy hits our shore a week ago... not as disasterous as the neighbouring country but still hit the nations badly... the day it actually happens, i was in a car with my friends on our way to the state where the tsunami occurred...so we didn't really feel the earth shaking around us when everybody else did... we were on our way to attend my best friend's brother wedding ceremony... it was awful to know about it later since her home is just near the coast, but lucky for her to live on the mainland as the tsunami only hit the island which is on the other side of the state... my dad called many times, asking if i was fine...

deepest symphaty n condolences go to the victims and their families...

It completely "vaporized" other islands, apparently. They no longer exist over the surface.

It also caused the Earth to wobble on it's axis and displace a fraction of a millimeter. [/b][/quote]
    Thats fricken crazy.

    As of 4 January 2005 @ 11:53 am EST (4:53 pm GMT)

    • Confirmed Death Toll: 139,410
    • The toll is expected to soar by tens of thousands because surveys of Sumatra’s west coast show it was hit a lot harder than previously thought.
    • An Indonesian man swept off the shore by last week’s tsunami was found afloat on tree branches and debris, the second person to be found alive on the high seas days after the disaster, officials said Tuesday.
    • Fifteen Americans were among the dead, but that number was expected to rise, the State Department official coordinating efforts to account for missing Americans told NBC News on Monday.
    • Forensic experts began exhuming 300 victims Monday after discovering that their bodies apparently were misidentified in the rush to bury the dead before they decomposed in the tropical heat, Thai officials said.

Not to be a pessismist but I believe that the death toll will get to over 200,000 after they finish cleaning up everything.

But I will say that today i went to my local sportcheck to buy a hockey stick and i was asked if i wanted to make a donation to the Tsunami relief and i graciously said that yes i would.

    I saw this programme about a mega-tsunami.

    BBC page

    Questions & answers

This is really going to happen!! The whole East-Coast of the US can be destroyed by this mega-tsunami. The tsunami will be higher then the skyscrapers. New York, Bosten, Miami and the Caribbean, everything within 20 kilometers from the coast will be destroyed.

But I hope that this doesn't happen in the near future

This thing is going to fall down in the ocean and will cause a mega tsunami

    Then, it will hit..

I got the pics of a magazine made with my webcam.

If there's a earthquake near or in La Palma, it will cause a landslide. Because of the landslide, the 500 km³ piece of land will fall down in the ocean and will cause a wave of 700 metres high. After 10 minutes the water has reached the speed of 250 km/h. Marocco will get a 650 metre-high wave. 9 hours after the landslide the wave reaches the eastside of America and will cause waves that can reach to 30 metres or higher. Manhatten dissapears, Florida and the Bahama's will litterly (??) dissapear from the map. One hour after the landslide the wave will hit Portugal and Spain, the South of England and the Netherlands. It can happen tomorrow, but it could also happen next millenium.

I typed the important stuff from the magazine.
