in one of my classes last semester we were talking about how TV was our new religion.

TV is what everyone has in common. if you dont know what is on, ur out of the loop. it is our social bond. frome music vids to daily news.

religion and church used to be ppl's common bond and social time. now WAY more ppl spend WAY WAY WAY more time in fornt of the TV than in church.

just food for thought. it is amazing how dependant and how addicted we are to our televisions.

I think you only get a little unfluenced by your TV. But you should know the difference between reality and TV, because if you don't know the difference you'll be definitly be influenced by it.

I think that while TV has an influence on people's beliefs and behavior, your family and peers have a more significant affect on the way you act.

TV affects you greatly. It can stir emotions, provide points of view you've never considered before, and sway you to a point that we would trust and believe anything. I'm talking about the majority here.

I don't watch TV, I prefer to keep my choices in check

Seriously, TV is addictive and is so pointless...

All I know is that Morgan Webb owns me, Ryan Seacrest sucks, and Bam Margera is the coolest guy on the planet (other than anyone in LP :) )

Yah of course tv is a major influence to people lives. Butonly to a certain extent. Like when you start getting people saying shit like certain violence in shows make kids violent and that bull. To me tv can't influence someone that far, to me the influence that tv brings is just the influence of the culture and thats it.

I believe TV is draining our poor minds.
The news media overplay things, describe the wrong things towards the wrong people, blame the wrong people, andmake news horrible to watch when NBC blames Columbine on the video games.

What we need as a nation is to know what's okay to watch on TV and if it can effect us.

    *sigh*

i think the T.V has a big effect on people. ppl have their "certain shows" that they just have to watch or else they have nothing to talk about next time it comes up in conversation. also....the T.V keeps a lot of us connected to the world. some ppl dont have computers so they just have a crapped out TV they watch and they watch the news and what not.
