The Ring is one of my favorite horor movies. I was just wondering which "Ring" does everybody like ...the first or the second movie.
Uhhhh...how can they vote for which movie is better when the second isn't even out yet? It comes out on the 19th, if you've seen it already..you've done something illegal.
The Japanese version owns all. Except the Japanese version of Ju-On 1 and 2. And the Japanese version of The Eye.
My guess is that The Ring was all plot with little action and The Ring 2 will be all action with little plot. Is Ringu really any good? I have it, subtitled and all, but I really don't have time to watch it if it sucks. So from someone who's actually seen it not heard about it, is it worth the time?
I never watched The Ring, but Ringu is probably better. Originals are always better than the remake! I thought Ringu was a bit scary in a suspenseful kind of way- I wasn't sure what would happen next, or how everything was connected.. but I don't think it was an extremely good movie. It's worth watching if you know someone who has it, or if you're bored though. I heard it's a bit scarier than the American one. I don't think I'll be watching the Ring II.
the ring was ok. it wasnt scary. me and a group of my mates sat through it and laughed at every single bit that was supposed to be scary and made jokes about it and stuff (except one person who got really scared and actualy hid behind his phone lol) so i doubt if i'll be seeing the ring 2, i dont see how you can make a sequal with out having basicly the same story line just with differnt people and differnt ways of them dying and stuff.
agreed. hollywood lately seems to be butchering quite a number of good asian films.. [/b][/quote] Seems to be the current trend. Kind of getting annoying, can't people make original movies anymore?
Nope, they just take Asian films and put a famous director's name on it. Like Quentin Tarantino's Hero, which was was really directed by Zhang Yimou (a famous Chinese director).
But they're just saying Quentin brought it to America... not that he directed it. But whatever... America butchers everything. It's where we get all our juicy steak. B)
I appreciated the Ring because of the way it was filmed. Because Im a multi media major in an art school, I tend to notice that stuff and value it more than the story itself. The Ring I never really found scary, but I think it was a good thriller. Ring 2 I just saw yesturday and I was not impressed. The story wasnt nearly as good as the first, They had Lumburg from Office Space in it, and they had computer animated deer in it (which were obviously fake, honsetly....how hard with the budget they had to make that movie would it be to tape live deer!!!). The filming techniques I liked in the first movie were there, but not as consistant and far in between. I have not watched Ringu yet (which I heard its better than The Ring. But I also heard the american version of the grudge was better than the japanese version.) Im planning on watching it soon.
A lot of my friends have said that both of the movies are realy good and that I should go and see them. Personally, I have not, and I probably won't unless I am bored out of my mind, I suppose. I am not particularly a big fan of horror movies. They waste my time and frankly ruin my dates. Don't go see "The Forgotten" though. Worst horror movie ever.
