Source Three years in prison for filming a movie. Ten years in prison for sharing a movie or song. And Osama bin Laden still hasn't been caught.
People who do cam movies will never get caught. Because THEY own the theatre. Anyone who simply goes into a theatre with a camera and films is a complete fucking moron.
So technically, pirates and bootleggers are on par in terms of injustice to those who murder, rape, and terrorize the public? I know it's a maximum of ten years and all, (it could be less) but still, that's pretty damn harsh.
Yeah, it'll be funny if Michael Jackson gets off for sexual abuse and pedophilia, but some guy sitting at home shares a song, and gets 10 years in prison.
Analogy: Timothy McVeigh bombed the Murrah Building because his mother wouldn't let him watch Clint Eastwood movies as a child.

I know. I've seen people get locked away for less time for drinking and driving and killing an innocent person. :wth: Glad the US legal system has their priorities straight. Killing someone is one thing, but downloading movies, well, we just can't have that kind of crime in our country, can we?
This isn't that big of a deal. Yes it is a crime to tape movies before their release. Yes it is illegal to get movies before their release. Please be fucking patient. It's also getting really fucking annoying about how we compare the recording laws with Osana bin Laden. Stop it please. They are two completely different subjects.
Uhm, it's comparable in the fact that our government is wasting our tax dollars and their own time by going after 13 year olds in their parents basement for downloading the latest Resident Evil movie, instead of trying to find the person supposedly behind the worst disaster on American soil. And yes, it is that big of a deal. Like Todd said, someone who kills a person might get less than 10 years, but if you download a fucking song, you get 10 years in prison. It's bullshit.
