I tuned in to this show last night and I must say I was pretty impressed with some of the vocalists talents. For those of you who don't know, INXS's lead singer died a while ago and now they're having a reality show to find a new vocalist. It does seems like they're cashing in on his death, though. Anyways, there's actually talent on this show. Each week, the vocalists pick from songs given to the group and perform their own covers which they rewrite with the house band. Each week, the band kicks a vocalist out of the competition. One person that stuck out to me was Marty with his acoustic take on The Killers' "Mr. Brightside". It was really an improvement on the original, he kicked it up an entire notch. I decided to go back into the archives of their website and saw his cover of Nirvana's "Lithium", which was also great. I'd say he's my favorite right about now. Has anyone else watched the show? Are you a fan? Do you have a favorite performer? I'd suggest checking the show out. I'm not even a fan of INXS and I like it. This isn't an American Idol rip-off, it's much better. Oh, and Brooke Burke hosts it. Site: http://rockstar.msn.com/show I strongly suggest going to "Videos" and checking out Marty's version of "Mr. Brightside".
I watched one episode and....i was just embarassed. There are a few people who have great voices on there...but their stage performance...that's just too embarassing. I thought that show was pointless. I mean the band say the same thing to all of them pretty much...it's just stupid in my opinion.
My parents love this show for some reason. I personally hate it because it seems like a pop-rock version of American Idol. My mother thinks that Constantine Maroulis should replace Michael Hutchence. But then again, I think my mother worships Constantine more than she does Jesus.
Constantine kicked ass, end of discussion. [/b][/quote] He might be able to sing, but the boy shouldn't try to scream like a metal singer, that's for sure.
Using Internet Explorer? It's another on of Microsofts brilliant ploys to get rid of the likes of Firefox and Netscape.
I gave up on these types of shows a long time ago....because people who have talent get voted off all the time
I don't mean to sound rude or insult anyone's opinions here, but I did as Mark said and listened to the "Mr. Brightside" cover and thought it was crap. I'll listen to a few more. Edit: Listened to "Lithium" by the same guy and it wasn't horrible, but it wasn't great, either. The only one I even remotely liked were a few of Ty's performances, but even that's a stetch. Very few of them even have much vocal range. Some songs I have no clue why they sang (they pick you said, right?)... like J.D.'s cover of "We Are The Champions".
Marty, Mig, Ty(His No woman No cry was a-mazing) or Jordis Too bad I can't watch it over here, but I watched it in the vacation, when I was in the states, so i'll stick to the internet clips now, the thing that sux with that is that you can't hear the bands' comment, oh well.
From what little of the show I've seen, they don't choose their songs, the songs are chosen for them and they must fight amongst themselves for which and which songs.
