As many of you know, this storm is following a similar path to Katrina, and even a small brush to New Orleans can put the city underwater again. If many of you don't know by now, the storm has doubled the windspeed since yesterday and as of 10 AM, it is a category 4 storm with weeds in upwards of 140 MPH, (225 kph for those canadians like me). It looks as if the storm will strike Texas. I think this will be a bigger storm than Katrina in my opinion, with winds almost pushing 200 by tomorrow. Any of you watching any of this and what are your opinions. It may not be serious now, but in 3 days, it'll be another major killer.
yeah, i live in Irving Texas. we are hearing alot about it. its getting kinda freaky. from what i understand, we arn't going to get the hurricane itself as it moves upward, but a LOT of tornados

(haha but we already get it cheaper than most other people....still) I filed up my tank yesterday, even though i didn't really have the money to, because I knew it was going to shoot way up. What are these hurricains doing to our economy?
Gas is a $1.15 here now. When Katrina hit, it shot up to $1.48. (These are Canadian prices mind you.) What the price of gas will be after Rita is beyond me, but I'm betting it will pass the $1.50 level here. As for this Hurricane, isn't Rita like the 17th one so far this year?
Meh, I'm not going to believe a thing about gas prices until I see it actually happen. After Katrina, everyone was like "OH NOES!!!!1111ONES GAS PRICES ARE GONNA REACH 5 BUCKS A GALLON!!!! MY SUV USES 4 GALLONS FOR EVERY INCH IT MOVES WHAT WILL I DO?????////" and I never saw gas go above $3.29. So yeah, it might be a good idea to fill up now, but don't anticipate very expensive gas.
lol yeah, but it reached $3.90/gal here. We actually have some of the highest gas prices in the country....it really is a drag. I need a more fuel efficient car, but i don't have the money to get anything else. But, becuase there is going to be even more damage before the past damage has a chance to be fixed. Everyone should fill up now.

I live in northwest Louisiana. My dad said that we are gonna get some hell out of Rita. The highest I've seen gas in the whole Katrina thing is $2.69. So, I'm glad i don't drive......yet. :wth: I'd hate to see what the prices are going to be in 2 years.
I hope anyone in Texas learned from Katrina is starting to evacute before they get hit. Doesn't seem we can handle another major hurricane disaster right now. Gas prices are expected to go up to $10 this time, everyone fill up every single can you can get your hands on, now!
If it's a category 5, it will die down soon. Category 5's don't usually last very long because they are moving SO fast, they start to tear themselves apart from the inside, bringing them down to a 2 or 3. It's a good thing that it hit 5 this early.
