Isn't Garage Band a music production program? If that's the case, I don't see a problem with using a sample from it, since that's kinda what it's purpose is anyway. I mean, they sampled a Led Zeppelin track (The Ocean) on Dolla from the FM mixtape, and there's no big deal over that.

How do you know that? Is the mixtape out?

No, but it's been talked about already on the FM boards, and I heard a live clip of the song. Being a Zeppelin fan, I knew the sample as soon as I heard it.

And before I get PMs from people asking about it, it was a crappy quality live bootleg recording, and it was only a clip of the song. I deleted it after a couple listens and don't even have it now. The mixtape's gonna be out this month, you'll hear a good quality version soon enough.

Yeah, when I first heard Believe Me, the first thing that came to mind was Garage Band. I remember using that sample for a multimedia presentation. I guess Mike is Garage Band user too.

I'm getting on Mike for using a pre-made sample. If it was a sound that he made into some notes then I wouldn't be trippin'. It shows that whoever made the beat how lazy and talentless they are. If they have to use a pre-made sample to make a beat. That's just my opinion.

The strings aren't the only thing in there though, Mike still did the percussion and bassline and all the other samples in there himself. This isn't like what Vanilla Ice did to Under Pressure..."Mine has that *tsh!* noise in it! That makes all the difference!"

Oh my god, Mike copied/ripped off/ACTUALLY USED GARAGE BAND in a song. Get over it. It's a tiny little sample.

True, I mean he showed that he has talent and is a very skilled man with the Remember The Name beat. That beat is PHAT! :mike:

But I don't see why he would use a pre-made sample when he has the mind set to make his own samples.

If he owns garage band... doesn't that mean he can use the sample? Wouldn't that make it an almost open source sound? Freely distributable material?

Besides, it's a fucking part of a beat. How do you make a new beat, you put already made materials together. See my point?

So the next person who says that Mike's a freeloading no talent scumbag can:

    i) Go fuck themselves
ii) Try to write, produce and make a whole album in under a year.
    iii) Fail.
