I don't necissarily think it's a decoy album. if it is it's a DAMN GOOD decoy album (yes I changed my mind about the album lol) but it's hard to believe it's not when Blair said they were making one and this year they didn't do a joke ON AFD.
I don't think they'd waste time doing that. It's just a strange idea. Is Tool strange? Yes, but I hardly think they'd do something like that. The release date is really close, and if this is a decoy album, why did they obviously put effort into it in the first place?
these could be b-sides they recorded during the Lateralus sessions. it's been proven that Wings For Marie (Part 1) has been partly played live before, so it's possible that the other songs are from a long time ago and they pulled them together and made a decoy album.
Well, we'll soon find out. I think you guys are really digging deep for this conspiracy theory stuff, though.
Just downloaded the album. I have to give it some more listens but I definately like what I hear. They go into some new directions but keep their general sound intact. Lateralus IMO was their masterpiece and while this one is really good it doesn't quite compare.
I love "The Pot"... Wings and 10,000 Days I'm not too fond of. I mean, it's good lyrically, but other than that they do nothing for me.
Tracks 1-5 are pure gold, I think they could've taken out lipan conjuring but thats a moot point, "Lost Keys"/"Rosetta Stoned" is really awesome and hilarious or sad depending on how you look at it, "Intension" could've been shortened a bit, "Right in Two" is amazing, and "Viginti Tres" should have been shortened down to a minute or two. Other than a few minutes I think its a very solid album! Almost as good as Lateralus I'd say. As for the Decoy album conspiracy, I think all the Tool guys are making a huge laugh out of all of it, if this is the joke they meant to play, faking a decoy album, it DEFINATELY worked well!!!!
The album is easily my favorite of 2006 thus far. I'm not a big fan of "Lipan Conjuring" or "Viginti Tres", but everything else is awesome. "The Pot" and "Right In Two" are probably my favorites.
I've only had time to listen to the leaked cd once, and I'm on the fence about whether I should buy it when it comes out tomorrow or not. It's kind of hard to take in such long songs in one listen without everything running together, but maybe that's how it's supposed to be. I hear the whole 3D artwork thing is amazing, and from what you guys are saying it's really good. Only 9.99 at Best Buy...think I should go for it?
Has anyone bought the album yet? I've heard the artwork is great. They had scans on the Tool Hotline, but I didn't want to look at it. I think I'm going to buy it tomorrow.
Um, so I just bought the record, and for some reason I don't understand the Stereoscopic thing. They're supposed to show one image through the glasses, right? Because I still see two. I feel dumb.
