Haha, nice. They switched it from, "Fleet Center" to what the building is actually called. Yay for corrections.
All of the sources I've seen point to an August release date. August 4th, 2006 seems to be the UK Release date. Which would make the US date August 1st or 8th. I'm not really sure how that works, so I'm not sure if those are right. Apparently a new single is to be released June 28th, though to me that seems a long ways away to release a single from an album.
If the past repeats itself, I would suspect this album and single to be delayed. But I really hope the Drunkship jam from the past shows in 05/06 make it onto the record.
I hope they don't take up most of their set time with a big jam at the Portland show. that would piss me off They can do that as long as they play The Widow first lol
Well, the set might go like this: Cygnus L'Via Drunkship w/ Jam The Widow Roulette Dares Cassandra Kinda like there recent shows at BDO this year. Give or take they get a hour and twenty minutes to play. And Drunkship will range from 20 to 30 minutes. So, you're in for some jamming.
I don't mind jams but when a band plays 1 song then does a 2nd song that transitions into a 30minute jam then they play another song and the set is over that's when I get pissed cause they're wasting away all their time. TMV plays 6 songs with 1 jam that's alright in my book.
Well, techically, there's a jam for every song, but those are just addons to the existing song. But Drunkship and Take the Veil have the longest. It's best that you go to the Comatorium, sign up, than look for the two Roseland Ballroom shows or the Electric Factory (05.03.2005) shows in the Tremulant Sings forum.
Wait, they're wasting away all their time by playing something that they feel and doing something different than what was played on the record? I mean, for god's sake, if you want to hear the songs without any "jams" just save yourself some money and go listen to the records. It'll be better production quality.
it's not that. I don't mind little jams and maybe 1 long one but if they do too many it gets boring waiting there for their jam to get over. I saw Dave Matthews Band once (jam band) and they had 2 hours to perform and they did 2 long jams at the end of some songs and some smaller ones that lasted 5 minutes or so and in the time they had they should've been able to play something like 20 songs but they only got in 11 or 12 so the crowd missed out on some of their hits.
Alright, I understand. I just think you and I have two different perceptions of what a live show should be. But at least when you go a Mars Volta show, you won't miss out on hits; they don't have any.
I like jams when they vary but alot of bands just play the same notes for awhile and only change a few during that time, if it's a bunch of random stuff that is coming off of the top of the guitar player's head (or w/e) I like that because that shows skill to me I don't really care what happens during a live show as long as the band has lots of energy and can entertain me. I know RHCP have lots of energy but I don't know about TMV
TMV has A LOT of energy usually! Don't be surprised to see Omar throwing his guitar around, doing crazy dances...and cedric running around climbing everywhere and jumping off amps and shit....Jon Theodore is a really amazing drummer to watch, Juan's intense and Ikey has the funniest smiles while jammin' the ivory.
Ikey's facial expressions are priceless. But yeah, on the more intense songs (Drunkship, Cygnus, Cicatriz, Take The Veil) they're pretty intense acrobatically. On the not so intense songs (Televators, The Widow) they usually slow the acrobatics and focus more on the emotion musically and performance.
once, cedric took the stage lights and started dancing on them. and i love how jon can take his shirt off without anybody noticing.
New The Mars Volta news! The title of the new album will be Amputecture. The projected release date is August 15th. But knowing The Mars Volta, there is a major possiblity this might be pushed back. News confirmed by Theory, Admin of The Comatorium/The Mars Volta Offical Site.
