What kind's of guitar effects to the guitarists use in Linkin Park? Also I've heard rumors that they use a 7 string guitar, this true or not?

Mike and Brad both play PRS Custom 24s and Ibanez RG Series guitars. Brad had an Ibanez 7 string when they toured up until 2003 that he used on With You and Runaway, but after Meteora came out, he started playing those songs on a 6 string guitar tuned to BEADGB (like a 7 string is tuned but without the high E string). Chester's guitar he uses on It's Goin' Down is a Hamer Studio Custom. Phoenix plays Ernie Ball Music Man Stingray basses, both 4 and 5 string versions.

As for amps/effects, Mike uses a Mesa Boogie dual rectifier head, Brad also uses one, but also has a Marshall 1959 Reissue head as well. Both of them use Mesa Boogie cabinets with vintage Celestion speakers. Phoenix uses Ampeg amps.

Brad uses 5 stompbox effects pedals:

    Boss NS-2 Noise Suppressor
    Boss CE-5 Chorus Ensemble
    Boss BF-2 Flanger
    Boss CS-3 Compression Sustainer
    Ibanez LF-7 Lo Fi Filter

He also uses a TC Electronic G Major effects unit, which is rack-mounted. His 5 stompboxes are also in a drawer in his rack, and he controls all his effects/distortion changes with a Digital Music Corp. Ground Control Pro system and a Boss expression pedal. Brad used to just have all his stompboxes lined up onstage when they toured for Hybrid Theory, but when they started touring for Meteora he decided it'd be easier to use one unit to program all his effect changes.

There was an article in an issue of Guitar World sometime in 2004, and it had a mock-up of all of Brad's stage gear, so that's where I found out exactly what gear he's using.

To my knowledge, LP has never used Line 6 amps. It's always been Mesa Boogie/Marshall for guitars and Ampeg for bass. And not all Brad's effects are Boss either.
