I love Cohen's characters. They're absolutely brilliant. I love Ali G and Borat is just on a whole other level and I can't wait to see the movie.
I watched Cohen being interviewed as Borat on Friday Night. He did recycle quite a few jokes he's already used on his programme or in other interviews (Johnny the monkey, showing naked pictures of his wife then saying she's dead) but they showed a clip of the film where he's in an antique shop (I think) and 'accidentally' destroys a whole display of china. It looked funny but I had to feel for whoever owns the shop. The rest of the film is meant to be much, much more provocative than that or anything on any of the trailers.
I can't wait for this movie...if the trailers are any indication, it should be damn close to the best movie of the year, if not the best
Clerks 2, Jackass 2 and Borat are going to be in tough competition for the best movie of the year title. But yeah, if the trailers, commercials, and previous Borat episodes are any indication, this movie could just beat the other 2. And did anyone see him on Saturday Night Live yesterday? "American things very popular in Kazhakistan [...] and position BJ. It very convenient, no need remove wife from cage"
"Please, you come see my film. If it not success, I will be execute." Genius. I plan on going to see it this coming weekend at the local drive-in. Should be a great movie.
With the exception of a couple parts watching the trailer, I have no idea why everybody thinks this Borat character is so damn funny. Yes, I said it...I may see this when it hits DVD or something, but i'm not shelling down 20 bucks to see something that may not even be funny in my eyes. I think he did a better job in Talladega Nights IMHO.
The thing that made me squirm is when he sings the Kazakh national anthem (or a made up one,if thats not the real one) at a rodeo. oh man. i had to shut the video off on youtube. i was afraid to see what happened lol. the best thing i've ever seen is his response to the kazakh's president's statement about having cohen come visit kazakhstan. JAGSHEMASH!
Cohen is funny when he just acts, but when he's interacting with real people he's on another station. He's the cultural equivalent of Jackass.
Did anyone else see the Jonathan Ross show where Borat appeared on it? it was fucking hilarious http://youtube.com/watch?v=aawh_RMAZic watch and laugh.
I did. It was awesome. Can't wait to see it! It's going to be so hilarious. I'll probably go to see it this week with some friends.
Finally someone else who thinks this Borat business is total crap. It's not even that funny, it's a crappy level of humor. Even 'Da ali g' show isn't that funny. Cohen just doesn't seem funny to me. At all.
