Mike Gives Small Details Regarding "Minutes to Midnight"

I like MCR but I think they are one of the few bands that I feel are way too overrated. The Black Parade was an awesome album, but far from a classic or anything like that.

 

hardcore or punk music for the little people with a political agenda or emotional lyrics. no songs about girlfriends breaking up or any acoustic love songs.

and i thought qwerty was shit, but it was a step in the right direction.

 

Thing is Franny is that music evolves over time. You're exactly right that emo was for the little people and misfits in the punk days but now Emo does indeed mean songs about breaking up with girlfriends, cutting yourself etc. (as a stereotypical example of course)

Kinda like the punk today is very different to the punk back in the 70s but you can still see elements of the punk from the old days.

Ah but at what point did I say that MCR are emo?

I expressed my delight that the new album would not be emo, and said that I am not happy about them possibly touring with MCR, not because I consider them emo, which I do as a lazy label term, but i do know that emo is not what people think it is and i know MCR are probably not in actual fact, emo.
I do not want MCR on the line up because I am not a fan of their music and believe they are more over-rated then Greenday, who're good, but not half as good as their made out to be or Billie Joe seems to think they are.

In my opinion.

if it's not hip hop or rock, what will mike shinoda do in the album ?
shout and scream ? sing "slow" ?

 

He means it's not tied to a label. He could still perform traits of genres, I suppose, but the whole point is Linkin Park is TOTALLY redefining their sound, so no labels can fit. That, and they don't like being labeled.

It wasn't 'discovered' newly, we've known about the song since the Xero Sampler Tape surfaced. I think we've all have crappy rips of the song at some point.

sound wires, no rock, no guitar, but slow song ... not sure but i think it is a new song !

i think he is mixing everything together ..... and as my friend says ... no label describes their new album.... so it's gonna be definetly mixing

There are people who can't stand MCR, then again, I've still heard worse [I downloaded an album of a random band I've never heard of. My god, the singer was terrible, like you couldn't believe.]

 

I hope Phoenix's piano part on the trailor makes it to one of the songs!
