I thought I'd posted these little bits in response to all the grips about the legnth of Linkin Park's albums. All of the following reviewers gave Meteora only slightly favorable remarks. "More importantly, the group has discipline and editing skills, keeping this record at a tight 36 minutes and 41 seconds, a move that makes it considerably more listenable than its peers and, by extension, more powerful, since they know where to focus their energy, something that many nu-metal bands simply do not." ~ All Music Guide "Yet the band manages to squeeze the last remaining life out of this nearly extinct formula with volatile performances and meticulous editing. There's hardly a moment in the album's tightly compacted thirty-six-and-a-half minutes that doesn't sound assiduously rehearsed, sampled and Pro Tools tweaked." ~ Rolling Stone "Meteora" clocks in at under 37 minutes, but since there's almost no filler here, its running time is a plus." ~ CNN
I can fit Meteora into my bus jouney to college quite nicely I don't care about the length of the album, as long as the songs are good I honestly don't mind.
I'm not asking for an 80 minute album. I think 60 minutes would be good. Make the album 40-50 mins and then put 30 mins bonus tracks then
For me , the point is that they were in the studio for 14 months, and they did more than 100 demos, and last time Mike said that they had 17 songs recorded .. I suppose those songs are really good, cause they've been narrowing them for a long time ... so .. why not release at least 14-15 songs ? Also, Mike said that they wanted to put more songs on this album ... But well .. if they release just 12 songs, hopefully all of them are excellent ...
If the tracklisting for the single is what has been rumored so far, there won't be on What I've Done.
They should have more tracks if they wanted to release more singles so the album is more worth it (Meteora had like 4-5 singles and had 13 tracks including "Forward" so that's like 1/3 of the album being singles).
Long albums are usually sloppy and unfocused. Just look at the Strokes' First Impressions of Earth. About four of the fifteen/sixteen tracks on the disc could easily have been cut. The total length is about the length of their first two albums combined, and it's also the weakest of the bunch.
my ride to college is about 35-40 mins so i can listen to hybrid theory on the way there and meteora on the way back. id like for this album to be 45-50 minutes but i wont be too mad if its under 40 mins. i just want some new lp.
It's going to be short and awesome. I know every time I listen to a LP CD I never skip a song because I thought it flat out sucked, I could see myself doing that on a 18+ CD from another band, But LP Grinds every song to their last possible perfection to release their final product and thats what makes them a great band.
