I guess that's a man rule when you grow up- you gotta wear leather.

And I'm on the corner, wearing my leather
This dude comes up and he's, like, "hey, punk!"
    I'm, like, "yeah, whatever!"

I like the fact they've grown up, but... for years they were telling us they absolutely don't wanna use explit language, chester even said it a year ago, something like "I really can't, I use those words a lot in the real life, but when it comes to writing lyrics, I just can't" . So where's the truth? Were they not telling us what was really behind using just clean language for those years (don gilmour, WB), or they think now they are the "rockstars" and they have to do everything what contains to be as a "rock star attitude". because they wanna do everything different.
I don't mind if there are 100 fucks on the record, it is fine with me, but I have that strange feeling they are not honest...or they weren't so honest for those years. Chester seemes theese days like he has finally achieved what he wanted for his whole life, being the true Rock'n'roll star, that's cool with me, but the rest of the band? It might be cool, but it looks like they aren't so down-to-earth as they used to be and, what's really the point, they look somewhat silly tryin' to be "now rockers...rap metal? what's that?"

I've wondered that about Chester, but there's the possibility that he didn't even write those lyrics. Mike has been known to cuss in his music, and he did spend most of his time writing things for Chester to sing. I bet he wrote those parts, and Chester had no problem singing them.

I don't have any problem with the new approach that they're taking. Chester said it right, they aren't kids anymore and they have better things to write about than teenage worries. As long as it has that unique LP vibe to it, I'm cool. About LP going political: did anyone ever thought that WID has a political message to it before watching the video?!

yup. I thought instantly, even when we heard clips, that it was a about the world. Forgiving what I've done... what else could you say.

It can be easily interpreted as it is about them leaving their old sound behind

    "Put to rest,
    What you thought of me"

but yes, now I think it's about the world too

Is that from the song that goes "now this is my united states of whatever!" or from something else?

this is the first lp album i'm not going to buy

ps. wearing leather jackets, changing your sound, singing about politics, trying to be like every other band before you, and singing a pop song as if it's the most hardcore metal around doesn't mean you're 'all grown up', i'm not going to tell you what that actually means, because i'll no doubt get banned for being too offensive

Probably the latter. On LPA, members with less than 50 posts have to have their posts moderated in order to save the sanity of the forum.
