Chester recently sat down with Spin Magazine for an interview about Minutes To Midnight and the band new musical direction. Click here to see the scan. Source: LPTimes Thanks to UndergroundSoldier!
If I didn't like the band from the past, or been as familiar as I am in contrast to the general public, I would think Chester is a a bit full of himself. But then again, he did push 40 million records...so who the hell am I to say anything?
Dam!!! what happened to ol school Chester, maybe is a clone who did this interview... He just sound`s sooooo arrogant and full of himself :S
Hmm..I don't know what to say. Based from this interview alone; my opinion and respect for Chester has just plummeted. Ugh..emo-heavey. I'm quite irritated right now after reading this. Bah!
Why is everyone overreacting? He said he didn't want to come across as arrogant, and was just being honest. Like him hating the nu-metal genre and the bands associated with it? So what? If he doesn't like the music, he doesn't like that type of music. He got sick of it and wanted to progress like majority of us wanted them to. I don't believe Chester came across so arrogant as people are making him out to be whatsoever. I mean, he even admitted that he is waiting for some people to possibly hate the new direction of the album.
Why are people acting like linkin park are dead! They have changed and may never come back but we will still have memories like meteora and *sob* hyy...HYBRID THEROY! *bursts into tears*
My initial reaction after reading this was not that aww Chester is all arrogant and stuff. What really hit me was the fact that Joe hasn't expanded his grasp whatsoever. I really expected more from Joe in this record. On another note, we, the fans, must understand that LP aren't kids anymore. They've matured mentally and musically and it just starting to show now.
He wasn't that arrogant, I didn't think. and the comments about the whole emo thing didn't worry me, they're far to smart to think that emo is mature.
I found the bit about Joe pretty funny, I've always wondered what they do when they don't have a part in a song.
:lol @ everyone crying I personally think this is a great interview. very straightforward, to the point and slightly arrogant, as he should. everyone's getting up in arms and worrying, but it has actually made me feel better and more excited for the album.
hmm, this is nothing new... he's pretty much coming out and smashing the NU-Metal genre, the bandwagon which provided the platform for them to become big, okay, a little un-kosher but we can forgive it. BUT, when the question about leaving one scene and joining another, that worries me... it seems to me that he's come out and smashed one trend they belonged to cause there's no gain in it any more and cause he doesn't feel they belong there... well they're in no way a right fit for this current trend, but he doesn't seem to come out and say that... in my opinion it's just because this trend, like the last... will make them alot of money so he doesn't come out and attack it... its not arrogant by Chester... it is very shallow and fake though
Could anyone please explain to me why the HT and Meteora albums are considered Nu-Metal ?? I've been thinking about it for a very long time and it just doesn't make sense. For every song that you could somehow consider as being like nu-metal, there are about 10 songs that don't fit the scheme at all... I don't consider them as nu-metal, neither do they, they always did their own unique art wich was thrown into a genre-basket by the good folks of Warner Bros. Records over and over again...
You know what, I hate gengres! "This is emo! This is Nu-Metal! This is tango!" No, it's music, that's what it is. The music you hear is defined by the name of the band, not a genre. I mean, every person in this world have had his bad days, and yes, that is pretty relevant. And I don't care if people call it emo. If I'm in a happy mood I listen to happy songs, if not I'll be listining to sad "emo" songs.
I never considered LP as nu-metal either..people probably think so because of the rapping...anyway, can't wait to see Joe taking naps on stage
